Medical Insurance Verification Specialist

Are you an experienced professional in medical insurance verification who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment? We’re looking for a dedicated Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in supporting patient care. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for verifying patient eligibility and benefits, handling complex cases across multiple tax IDs and service lines, and ensuring accuracy for both in-network and out-of-network requests.

You’ll be working closely with our medical team, managing around 40–50 new patient verifications each week, while prioritizing urgent cases to keep patient care on track. From completing detailed verification forms with procedure codes to communicating directly with insurance carriers, your attention to detail and strong phone communication skills will make a real impact.

• Contract type: Independent Contractor
• Schedule: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm Eastern with a 30-minute unpaid break

Scope:

• Dedicated role focused exclusively on insurance verification tasks
• Handle verification for multiple companies under different tax IDs
• Process approximately 200 new patient verifications per month at full capacity
• Work directly with client management team for process training and ongoing communication
• Use client-provided software phone system for making verification calls
• Potential for role expansion as the medical practice continues to grow

Responsibilities:

• Call insurance carriers to verify patient eligibility and benefits for multiple procedure codes
• Handle verification requests for multiple tax ID numbers and service lines (medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy, acupuncture)
• Process both in-network and out-of-network benefit verifications in a single call when possible
• Complete comprehensive verification of benefits forms with detailed procedure code information
• Manage verification requests for approximately 40-50 new patients per week
• Prioritize urgent verification requests as directed by the medical team
• Communicate directly with the client team regarding verification status and any issues
• Handle past claims

Requirements

• Previous experience in medical insurance verification and eligibility
• CRM/Software experience
• Knowledge of insurance verification processes and procedure codes
• Strong phone communication skills for interacting with insurance representatives
• Attention to detail for accurately completing verification forms
• Ability to handle multiple tax IDs and understand different service line requirements
• Experience with insurance hold times and complex verification processes
