Summary of Performance Expectations:
A Business Systems Analyst is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and implementing technological systems in the organization. They will provide troubleshooting for technical issues and create documentation and training guidelines as needed. The analyst ensures and provides the following:
Required
Associate degree in Management of Information Systems, or related field or High School diploma/equivalent and experience in healthcare computer software applications.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Management of Information Systems or related field. Strong information systems knowledge (application user experience, analyst, or project implementation roles desired).
Work Experience:
Required
Three years previous health care experience in information systems with hospital IS applications. May consider a bachelor’s degree with a successful internship and healthcare experience with the aptitude for troubleshooting and providing solutions. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Experience with Meditech systems, report writers, and data base applications either directly or through supervision. Experience with process management. About Catawba Valley Medical Center

- Acquires and maintains expertise in assigned software.
- Works with superusers and end users during application acquisition, installation, implementation, and upgrades to optimize use of functionality.
- Assists with process and workflow changes so that measurable benefits are realized.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
- Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives to parallel overall business strategies.
- Assists with audits.
- Acquires and maintains expertise with tools used to enhance use of application software such as report writers, spreadsheets, scripting tools, database tools or flowsheet tools.
- Provides system access duties to maintain a secure environment.
- May provide project management duties as needed
