This part-time, non-exempt position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service across the Walker. The role primarily supports front-of-house operations for Moving Image and Performing Arts programming, including the annual British Arrows Awards and the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Responsibilities include welcoming guests, seating audiences, monitoring performance spaces, and providing general visitor support.

Orientation for this role is scheduled for November 11, 2025 - selected candidates will need to be available that day.

What You Get To Do

  • Attend pre-show Front-of-House meetings and other training as required by management.
  • Remain at the assigned post throughout the event.
  • Scan tickets, distribute programs, and assist patrons in finding their seats.
  • Enforce appropriate house rules in event venues.
  • Implement proper safety and security procedures and policies in a calm and productive manner.
  • Perform light cleaning between programs in the cinema and theater.
  • Utilize radios to communicate with the Event Manager, Box Office and Ushers.
  • Monitor patrons in event spaces for safety, accessibility needs, and overall guest comfort during programs.
  • Respond to general inquiries and feedback from guests, solving customer service issues when they arise while maintaining excellent customer service and composure.
  • Offer expert knowledge on Walker programs, events, exhibitions, amenities, and facility information in order to share information with visitors accurately.
  • Use knowledge, skills, and judgment to assist patrons, seeking help if something is unclear or requires additional input/assistance. Partner with the Event Manager as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What We Need In You

  • Experience in customer service, guest relations, tourism, or box office operations preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to multitask and remain attentive in an environment that includes crowded lobbies/theaters with moderate to occasionally high noise levels.
  • Flexible and willing to move from area to area and perform different tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of personalities and people across a variety of cultures, generations, and abilities.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours/days, reflective of the dynamic schedule of Walker programming, including at least one weekend shift, per week, is required. 

Physical Demands

  • Mustbe able to remain in a stationary position (standing or seated in awheelchair) for extended periods.
  • Must be able to read in low-light conditions.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and engage in frequent physical activity.
  • Mustbe able to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift/move/carry up to 25 lbs.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered part-time (0.4 FTE Assignment), non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is $17.00 hourly.
