To ensure a safe manufacturing environment, our Occupational Health and Safety Engineering team plays a crucial role in hazard prevention, conducting safety audits, providing training, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
In This Position...
The Senior Engineer, Occupational Safety, working without supervision, is the site health and safety subject matter expert responsible for developing innovative solutions to occupational safety and security concerns such as hazard control and prevention, safety systems and equipment, compliance, risk, etc. with consistency in a timely manner. The role may work with other team members in the implementation of the Company’s Safety Operating System (SOS) and plant-wide safety processes such as emergency response planning, safety training, and with the application of technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts. The role would also take on project leadership to guide other team members to continuously improve occupational safety programs.
What You'Ll Do...
- Support Senior Director and Director of Occupational Safety in all requests, reports, applications, etc. as needed
- Proficient in OHSIM application, PLAID, GERT reporting, MSS, Data Analytic Module (DAM) reports, SharePoint, etc.
- Collaborate with global and regional safety team in enterprise technology for application modernization such as SOS, SOI, SKI, OHSIM, etc.
- Participate in facility visits to support and confirm corporate processes such as SOI, SOS, etc. are functioning as designed
- Support health and safety coaching visits in various capacities (i.e., NJCHS coaching visits) as needed
- Work with the global GDIA team for dashboard development, implementation, enhancements, etc. such as SOS, SOI, SKI, SSI, etc.
- Interface with the UAW, Corporate Medical, OGC, and Labor Affairs in health and safety questions, communications, and initiatives
- Knowledgeable in all GSET applications and dashboards as a technical resource for global and regional operations
- Manage the OHS SharePoint site including all updates, changes, and development of new, modernized site
- Lead for safety communications such as posting to Blue Oval Now application using creativity and technical content
- Oversight and management of the global safety standards and standard owners to ensure standards, SOS question sets, EJPs, etc. are updated and completed on time
- Safety standard owner for FAS08 – 010; 040; 085; 100; 102; 115; 121 and all content
- Support / Lead / Collaborate / Distribute / Track in the development of Safety Alerts and corrective actions to ensure timely and effective communication of required actions; work with global regional safety leads in updates / changes as necessary; and provide support in the development / distribution of regional safety alerts including tracking corrective actions
- Experience with the Governance, Risk, Compliance system and control testing process
- Assist in the management and development of the annual President’s Health and Safety Awards
- Interface with global Training and Development teams as needed
You'Ll Have…
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Occupational Health and safety, Safety/Health Sciences, or any other related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of occupational safety work experience with a Master’s degree or 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
Work Requirements:
Involves frequent (defined as one to two-thirds of the time) lifting of more than 10 to 25 pounds. Work performed requires a good deal of walking or standing and may include some sedentary work and working conditions that include moderate noise levels related to the use of office equipment or machinery. May involve exposure to varying outside temperatures.

This position is a salary grade 8.
