A great opportunity has arisen to join the Histopathology team as a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant in Taunton. In this pivotal role, you will be supporting the BMS staff within Specimen Reception that include duties such as case assignment, dissection transcription and data entry. You will need a good level of leadership to support this busy area, and to meet the laboratory Turnaround Times, as well as be involved in audit and competency assessment.
- To perform a number of Healthcare scientific activities including undertaking routine and specialised preparatory laboratory techniques in the processing of diagnostic Histology specimens under the supervision of a HPC registered practitioner. This will include Data entry, dissection transcription, reagent management and case assignment.
- Knowledge of a range of routine and non-routine Biomedical Investigations in Histopathology.
- A working knowledge and practical application of the departments IT systems including WPE, Cerebro, Philips IMS and Q-pulse
- Be able to rotate through all areas of the laboratory required (dependent on qualifications, experience and training) performing all designated duties in accordance with local working practices whilst maintaining high personal standards and conforming to Health and Safety regulations.
- Perform routine and specialist biomedical investigations, and participate daily in the scientific and technical activities of the laboratory section, which will include specimen reception functions, under the supervision of Biomedical Scientists.
