The Role:

As the Director of Surgical Services at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, you will oversee the efficient and effective delivery of surgical services. You will ensure optimal quality patient care while maintaining staff and physician satisfaction and coordinating seamlessly with other hospital departments. In collaboration with surgical services leadership teams, you will drive strategic direction, objectives, and vision for the division. 

What You'Ll Do:

  • Leadership Excellence: Provide strategic leadership and management direction for surgical services, ensuring the delivery of quality care across multiple facilities.
  • Collaborative Strategy Development: Collaborate with northern Oregon surgical services leadership teams to align strategic direction, objectives, and vision.
  • Operational Efficiency: Balance resources, maintain quality, and support clinical practice needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Team Building: Locate, hire, mentor, motivate, and retain skilled employees, fostering a climate of respect and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead quality improvement activities and establish standards and procedures to assure quality patient care.
  • Professional Development: Advocate for professional growth opportunities, support leadership team development, and mentor staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain key stakeholder relationships, advocate for excellence in patient care, and promote positive communication within departments.
  • Resource Management: Plan, manage, and evaluate utilization of resources, including the development and management of budgets.

What You'Ll Bring:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, or related Healthcare field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Surgical Services management experience at the Director level, including strategic planning and program development.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to provide responsive leadership, delegate, coordinate, motivate staff, and evaluate performance.
  • Communication Proficiency: Effective communication skills in writing, orally, and in presentations.
  • Adaptability: Ability to understand, adapt, and respond effectively to a constantly changing environment.
  • Teamwork and Coordination: Proven ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork within multidisciplinary groups.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent judgment and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically as well as tactically.
