The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team within the Identity division is looking for an engineer looking to solve large scale problems and deliver the next wave of innovation in Entra ID (formerly called Azure Active Directory) Groups vertical. Groups serve as the core of automation and powers a wide variety of Identity and Access Management services and AI Agents. Our work enables customers to easily manage access to their cloud applications, power collaboration through Microsoft 365 groups and ease management scenarios such as rule based dynamic membership, policy assignment and group life cycle management. We deliver internet scale services and event processing pipelines in Microsoft Graph. Security, availability, performance, and scale are essential for us. On this team, we solve highly complex problems in the critically important cloud security space. Responsibilities
- Work with Engineers and Product Managers to deliver compelling sets of features.
- Synthesize complex problems to actionable solutions that delight customers using data-driven approach.
- Design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize test automation, reliability, performance, and monitoring for production services.
- Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews.
- Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that components are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, maintainable, actively monitored and reusable.
- Expose test coverage issues, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas.
- Collaborate with mentors and leaders to gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses.
- Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability and monitoring for Live Site.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- 2+ years experience building identity systems.
- 2+ years experience building large-scale offline processing systems.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Knowledge of security best practices.
- 4+ years experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- 4+ years experience building identity systems.
- 4+ years experience building large-scale offline processing systems.
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
