How You’Ll Make An Impact

Dudek is looking for a Geospatial Analyst I to support our environmental, planning, and engineering projects. In this role, you will assist in the collection, management, analysis, and visualization of geospatial data. You will contribute to field data collection, spatial analysis, cartography, and technical report preparation under the guidance of senior staff. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial data interpretation, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This role is a hybrid role and will be tied to one of our Northern California offices.

Duties And Responsibilities

Geospatial Data Management and Processing
  • Compiles, processes, and manages GIS datasets, ensuring data integrity and organization.
  • Uses publicly available data sources and discipline-based data models to support spatial analyses.
  • Maintains and updates geospatial databases using ESRI’s ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Online and Enterprise GIS.
Spatial Analysis and Mapping
  • Conducts spatial analyses to support environmental impact assessments, land-use planning, and engineering design.
  • Develops and produces high-quality maps, figures, and spatial visualizations for reports and presentations.
  • Works with lidar, imagery, and other remote sensing datasets to extract relevant geospatial information.
Field Data Collection and Integration
  • Assists in field data collection using GPS, drones, and mobile GIS applications.
  • Ensures accurate georeferencing and integration of collected data into GIS workflows.
  • Supports environmental and engineering field teams with real-time mapping solutions.
Project Support and Collaboration
  • Works closely with project managers and analysts to interpret GIS needs and provide geospatial solutions.
  • Leads small GIS projects and provides support for larger interdisciplinary projects.
  • Communicates GIS concepts effectively to non-GIS team members to support decision-making.
Compliance and Best Practices
  • Ensures all GIS workflows comply with industry standards, project requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Follows best practices in GIS data management, cartography, and spatial analysis.
  • Manages time effectively to balance multiple projects and understand budget constraints.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years’ experience working with GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial analysis through internships, academic projects, or professional work.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Geospatial Science, GIS, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in ESRI’s ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise GIS.
  • Experience working with acquiring and processing spatial databases.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools, including GPS, uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs; drones), and remote sensing applications.
  • Experience working with lidar and imagery processing is a plus.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or R for geospatial automation and analysis is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Compensation: $25.65-$31.35 hourly*
  • *Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

Working Conditionsenvironment

  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job requires occasional project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.

  • Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
  • Employees must be capable of bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted; 50lbs in a team lift (two or more employees).
  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with government agency representatives, members of the public, and others. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
