Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Biostatistics, jointly housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine. With minimal and general instructions, the individual must be able to work efficiently and with dedication to meet clinical investigator project deadlines, design web-based data entry systems, managing data sets, generate scientific reports for various research studies, perform programming and statistical analysis tasks, while taking steps to ensure that his/her work meets a high standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Work independently to design web-based data entry systems and manage data sets from clinical trials and longitudinal observational studies at the UF CTSI Research Design and Data Coordinating Center (RDDC). This requires exercising sufficient disease-specific knowledge and understanding of the protocol to identify all data items necessary to address the study aims.  Develop the web-based data entry system to collect these data in such a way that statistical analysis will be possible. Take initiative to perform data quality checking to identify data inconsistencies and work with the research coordinators to resolve the data issues. Create documentation of the data entry systems and data sets. 

Collaborate with faculty and staff in drafting scientific reports, conference abstracts and presentations, and journal articles. Write technical reports that present and interpret study results.  Assist with the preparation of manuscripts for publication by editing the numbers and creating tables and figures and performing checks for internal consistency.

With minimal supervision from the faculty statistician, conduct requested statistical analyses and prepare summary reports for various research studies. The tasks may include: understand and implement the protocol-specified interim monitoring and final analytic plan based on an outline provided by the study statistician; interpret results for assigned clinical trials by employing knowledge of various statistical data analyses methodologies including survival analysis, cox regression analysis, logistic regression and tests of association; prepare draft study progress reports. 

Expected Salary:

$71,100 - $74,000 annually; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

• Data management experience.
• Data analysis experience.
• Professional technical writing experience.
• Ability to have or gain sufficient disease-specific knowledge and understanding of research study protocols to identify all necessary data items for study aims.
• Ability to develop web-based data entry system to meet research needs.
