Job Summary

Somerset Community College is expanding our campus security team and seeking an additional Security Coordinator to work alongside our current Coordinator in leading security and emergency preparedness. Together, these professionals are charged with ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff across all campuses and centers (requires travel to all locations). This role involves active participation in crisis response, safety/security training, and compliance reporting, with both coordinators sharing responsibility for 24/7 emergency availability and strategic planning.

Job Duties:

Campus Safety & Incident Response
• Respond to disruptions, disagreements, and emergencies at SCC campuses and centers; coordinates with local law enforcement as needed;
• Assist with crisis situations, including fire, bomb threats, severe weather, natural disasters, and other emergencies;
• Share 24/7 availability for emergency calls and immediate deployment of Safety Notification Alert Process (SNAP) notifications;
• Oversee campus security guard operations and ensure proper coverage and conduct;
• Track and log criminal incidents daily across all campus sites; update the Incident Reports website in real time;
• Complete and submit required security/safety reports, including the Minger Report and Clery Campus Crime Report.

Emergency Preparedness & Training
• Co-develop and deliver safety/security training programs for faculty, staff, and students;
• Coordinate emergency preparedness drills (e.g., tornado, earthquake, bomb threat, fire, intruder, chemical spill);
• Conduct tabletop exercises and mock scenarios with the Crisis Management Team (CMT);
• Update Crisis Management Plan annually or as needed;
• Collaborate with IT to manage and maintain the SNAP emergency notification system.

Safety Oversight & Compliance
• Assist Safety Coordinator when needed, including: lab safety inspections and general campus safety audits, updating safety manual, and other safety-related functions.

General Duties
• Share responsibility for other duties as assigned in support of campus security and emergency operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university, and two to four years of related work experience or equivalent. Experience to include security, law enforcement, or emergency management. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with security technologies, strong communication and crisis management skills, and security experience in an educational setting.
