The High School Program Initiatives Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the Pikes Peak State College High School Programs Department and local area high school partners, fostering strong, collaborative relationships to support student success across multiple high school initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Career Start program, ensuring seamless coordination between college faculty, high school personnel, and students. In addition, the High School Program Initiatives Coordinator manages PIVOT Program referrals by providing individualized support, coaching, and advocacy for participating students to promote their academic and personal development. A critical component of this role includes maintaining and strengthening articulation agreements with local high schools to align curricula, enhance dual credit opportunities, and expand access to postsecondary pathways for high school students. Through intentional partnership and student-centered leadership, this position helps maximize educational opportunities for high school learners across the region.
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of High School Programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
- Two years of teaching experience or two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or one of the approved career and technical education program areas.
- Documented leadership experiences in previous position assignments.
- Successful experience working with career and technical programs as an instructor or an administrator at the secondary or the post-secondary level.
- Experience with Banner, Salesforce, Slate, Navigate, or a similar student management system.

Essential Functions
The High School Program Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for directing, coordinating, supporting, and overseeing all aspects of Career Start, PIVOT, and articulation agreements with local area high schools. This includes the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of each program area. The functions below reflect major areas of responsibility and are essential to the success of the High School Programs department.
Program Administration & Leadership- Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Career Start program, ensuring alignment with institutional policies, instructional quality, and high school partner expectations.
- Manage and oversee the intake, case management, and progress monitoring of students referred to the PIVOT program, providing individualized coaching and success planning.
- Implement and revise program procedures in response to changes in policy, student needs, or school partnerships.
- Provide direct support and coaching to PIVOT students to enhance executive functioning, emotional intelligence, academic resilience, and overall college readiness.
- Investigate and address academic, behavioral, and attendance concerns for Career Start and PIVOT students through collaboration with faculty, families, and high school staff.
- Support and advocate for students with varying needs, including those requiring supplemental services, accommodations, or intervention.
- Recognize and reinforce positive student behaviors through structured feedback, events, and school communication.
- Develop, revise, and maintain articulation agreements with local high school partners to ensure accurate alignment of high school and college curricula and maximize dual credit opportunities for students.
- Represent the department at meetings with school district administrators, counselors, and instructors to support alignment, resolve issues, and promote collaborative solutions.
- Support the implementation of articulation policies and practices that expand access and opportunity for high school learners.
- Train and support high school and college faculty/staff involved in articulated courses and Career Start programs.
- Prepare and deliver professional presentations to high school audiences (students, parents, counselors, and instructors) to inform and promote Pikes Peak State College’s service within these initiatives.
- Coordinate and support outreach and recruitment for Career Start and PIVOT, including events, tours, and presentations that showcase available programs and pathways.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, faculty, and support staff using multiple formats (in-person, phone, virtual, email, text) to maintain strong engagement and service continuity.
- Coordinate and monitor student FERPA documentation; ensure compliance with privacy regulations and advise faculty/staff accordingly.
- Compile and submit data and reports related to student enrollment, program evaluation, attendance, grades, and other required metrics for institutional and state reporting.
- Maintain accurate student records related to drops, holds, credit completion, and program participation across Career Start and PIVOT.
- Train and support Career Start and PIVOT faculty in understanding program expectations, student support protocols, and communication procedures.
- Assist in planning and facilitating faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and events.
- Coordinate with IT and marketing teams to ensure the accuracy and usability of program websites and communication materials.
- Oversee logistics such as transportation coordination, student emergencies, and general program troubleshooting as needed throughout the academic year.
General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact and resource for the Career Start, PIVOT, and articulation-related initiatives.
- Update and maintain department records and reports, including enrollment data, student progress tracking, testing outcomes, FERPA documentation, articulation agreements and student transcription, and program evaluations.
- Prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines and across diverse program areas.
- Provide one-on-one academic coaching and mentoring to students in the PIVOT Program, including those managing learning differences, to promote academic success, personal development, and self-advocacy.
- Support students' executive functioning development and emotional intelligence, empowering them to become more independent, responsible, and invested in their own success.
- Facilitate connections between students and support networks, including teachers, high school counselors, case managers, therapists, and external educational or medical professionals, to create comprehensive support teams.
- Collaborate with program staff to develop and refine individualized strategies that address student strengths and challenges across PIVOT and Career Start programs.
- Serve as a concierge and liaison for students, guiding them through college administrative processes such as course registration, degree planning, and navigating college departments and resources.
- Maintain consistent, high-touch communication with students through in-person meetings, phone calls, video conferencing, text messages, and email to build trust and ensure continuous support.
- Conduct outreach and relationship-building with prospective students and families, educating them on PIVOT, Career Start, and articulation opportunities, and assisting through application and enrollment processes.
- Assist with onboarding activities including orientation sessions and student check-in for Career Start and PIVOT participants.
- Facilitate course builds in coordination with academic divisions to finalize course offerings, schedules, and resources for smooth implementation.
- Support ongoing program development through continuous improvement, applying new learning and feedback to enhance student services and operational effectiveness.
- Maintain and update articulation agreements with high school partners, ensuring alignment of curricula and maximizing college credit opportunities for students through dual credit options.
- Collaborate with faculty and high school partners to support implementation of articulated courses, provide guidance on credit transfers, and troubleshoot any discrepancies or issues that arise.
- Represent the High School Programs department in meetings with internal and external stakeholders, providing program updates, addressing student concerns, and supporting strategic initiatives.
