We’re looking for a Community Independence Program (CIP) Assistant & Driver to support adults with developmental disabilities as they engage in meaningful daily activities both at our center and out in the community. Someone who is compassionate, dependable, and ready to make a meaningful impact every day.

In this role, you’ll do much more than drive, you’ll help individuals build independence, enjoy new experiences, and reach their personal goals.

What You’Ll Do

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for participants between their homes, our program center, and community activities. This includes assisting individuals who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
  • Support participants during daily activities, encouraging them to work toward their personal goals, and helping adapt activities so everyone can be included.
  • Offer respectful assistance with daily living needs such as lunch, toileting, or mobility, always honoring the dignity and preferences of each person.
  • Create a welcoming and positive environment by building strong, respectful relationships and helping to resolve any concerns that come up during the day.
  • Contribute to individual support plans by sharing your observations and insights with the team to help each person succeed.
  • Complete required documentation (daily notes, monthly reports, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Be a team player, willing to jump in and support wherever needed to ensure participants have the best possible experience.

Requirements

This Role Could Be a Great Fit If You Have

  • A valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A caring, respectful approach toward people with disabilities
  • Willingness to assist with daily personal care tasks
  • Ability to stay organized and flexible in a dynamic setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in human services is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Bilingual (especially Spanish) is a plus
