About The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Global Breeding Strategy & Analytics will lead strategic initiatives with focus on pipeline analytics and tracking of impacts of breeding technologies on genetic gain. Reporting to the VP of Global Breeding, this role will design and influence strategies in key areas such as deployment of predictive breeding in berry pipelines and adoption of data-driven strategies and decision sciences for product assessment and advancements. This role will partner with breeding Directors to provide data-driven insights for the performance of global berry breeding programs. Through collaboration with business-facing product leaders across all four berry crops you will oversee the deployment of new genetics that are differentiated in consumer delight and grower profitability.Location: Watsonville, CA or Maidstone, UK
Responsibilities
• Drive initiatives aligned with R&D global strategies: Data-driven stage gate advancements, agree with partners on data hand-off packages to enhance success of first year trials with growers, advance and automate decision analytics in all berry breeding programs
• Design strategies for efficient phase-in of new breeding methods: evaluation of accuracy of genomic selection models, prioritize and assess value of digital phenotyping solutions in breeding programs
• Act as hub for digital transformation in global breeding: Represent breeding on digital transformation steering teams
• Provide leadership, team purpose, and performance assessment for varietal breeding team in EMEA; track operational and capital budgeting for all breeding and variety development activities, in collaboration with the global breeding directors for each berry crop
• Maintain an active and productive role with EMEA’s business-facing product leadership team, contributing to the success of business strategy, initiatives, and marketplace results through the development and deployment of new varieties
• Participate in the development and implementation of strategic business plans in EMEA
• Communicate opportunities to Global R&D leadership for the development of programs and projects to create solutions
• Partner with global breeding directors and Global R&D leadership to manage financial allocations effectively across various projects to align R&D efforts with business objectives
• Follow Company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, Growers, Retailers, Suppliers, governmental agencies, etc.
• Ensure the security of Driscoll’s confidential and proprietary information and materials
Candidate Profile
- PhD in Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Data Science or related fields
- 5 years’ experience in plant breeding industry
- Proven record of adopting pipeline analytics and decision sciences
- Experience in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, and growers’ economics
- Skilled in team leadership and driving change initiatives
- Track record in adopting predictive analytics methods, driving digital transformation and steering broad, complex programs and multiple projects, simultaneously
- Spanish speaking skills preferred

- Strategic thinker who can understand and link R&D initiatives with long-term business objectives
- Broad industry knowledge including awareness and understanding of competitors, technologies, and cultural systems

Salary Range estimated for the Senior Manager, Global Breeding Strategy & Analytics in the United States: $107,344.00/year to $173,428.00/year.
