The Opportunity
The Senior Director/Director of Engineering – EPC Delivery is a senior leadership role responsible for strategically building, leading, and managing Ulteig’s engineering EPC delivery services in the Power (electric utility) Lifeline Sector. This is an opportunity to build a new EPC service line central to Ulteig’s long-term growth strategy. This position oversees the growth and execution of design-build and EPC projects, ensuring integration of project management, high-voltage transmission, substation engineering, field services, and sales support to deliver predictable, high-quality outcomes for clients.
The Senior Director/Director will shape Ulteig’s EPC strategy, scale capacity and capabilities, and position the firm as a trusted engineering partner to support EPC delivery for our EPC partner clients and to electric utilities. This role reports to the GM and VP, Power, and is a member of the Ulteig Leadership Team (ULT).
This position will be a leader of teams working on EPC projects within:
- Technical Engineering (high-voltage substation & transmission engineering/design).
- Field Services (environmental, land acquisition, survey, ROW) to align resources and processes.
- Sales Operations and Power/Renewables Market (business development) teams to translate market opportunities into EPC service offerings and win new projects.
- Project Management teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery.
- Proposal Development teams to lead capture planning, proposal strategy, pricing, and risk to produce competitive bids and handoffs to project execution.
What You’Ll Do
Strategic Leadership and Growth
- Build and lead Ulteig’s EPC delivery services, focusing on design-build and EPC project models.
- Develop and execute a long-term strategy for scaling EPC delivery within the Power market and adjacent sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, utility clients, and industry stakeholders.
- Partner with sales (Power Market, Renewables Market, and Sales Operations teams) to identify, pursue, and convert EPC opportunities, ensuring alignment of technical capabilities with client needs.
Project and Service Delivery
- Oversee EPC delivery performance across schedule, cost, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Ensure seamless integration of engineering with procurement and construction partners, Project Management and Field Services.
- Champion best practices in design-build delivery, EPC contract management, and risk mitigation.
Cross-Functional Integration
- Align engineering execution with Field Services teams to ensure operational efficiency.
- Promote collaboration across Project Management, Sales, COEs, and corporate functions to drive enterprise-wide success.
Operational and Financial Oversight
- Develop business plans, budgets, and staffing models to support EPC growth.
- Manage financial performance of EPC delivery services, ensuring profitability and operational discipline.
- Drive resource planning, recruitment, and talent development to build high-performing EPC-focused teams.
Client and Market Engagement
- Represent Ulteig as a senior leader in client engagements, strategic pursuits, and industry forums.
- Influence contract structures, delivery models, and technical solutions to optimize outcomes for clients and Ulteig.
- Identify and cultivate EPC partnership opportunities, joint ventures, and long-term client relationships.
- Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support team efforts enhances collaboration and growth opportunities.
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- PE Licensure preferred.
- Proven experience in EPC delivery, design-build projects, and managing EPC contractors, ideally in utilities, transmission, distribution, or large-scale infrastructure.
- 15 years of experience required / 20+ years preferred working in engineering consulting, critical infrastructure, technical services, program and or project management, or performing work similar in scope at other types of organizations.
- Prior technical experience leading multi-disciplined Substation and Transmission projects in the Power market is preferred.
- Experience in multiple EPC contract and partnership models (lump sum, guaranteed max, cost-plus, joint venture, etc.).
- Knowledge of digital project delivery tools, BIM, and emerging EPC technologies.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational change and building new service offerings.
- Commitment to advancing a strong safety culture in EPC environments.
- Strong business planning, management, client engagement, and organizational experience.
- Demonstrated record of setting challenging goals and maintaining organizational accountability to achieve results.
- Strong financial acumen with direct responsibility for P & L, budgets, and large project portfolios.
- Track record of strategically building and scaling services in a consulting, utility, or EPC environment.
- Experience partnering with Sales/business development and adjacent business units to align technical capabilities with market opportunities.
- Excellent communication, influence, and relationship-building skills with executives, clients, and partners.
- Demonstrated success in employee development, succession management, coaching, hiring, and performance management.
- Ability to travel up to 30% to meet with clients, partners, and employees.
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $212,500 - $287,500
