Job Summary:
Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking undergraduate candidates to participate in our summer internship program. This internship is an excellent opportunity for college students who are interested in learning about the core functions of finance and operations in the natural gas industry through a structured internship program. Over the course of the program, interns will be exposed to multiple areas including structured products, credit, deal capture, and accounting, developing a broad understanding of how energy businesses operate and manage risk.
Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and support both internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, supportive environment. This program is ideal for students interested in a career in energy, looking to develop analytical, operational, and problem-solving skills while gaining exposure to the natural gas sector and cross-functional business processes.
Upon successful completion of the program, interns will be eligible to apply for our post-graduation full-time rotational program, providing a clear pathway to continue their growth and development within the company.
- Location: This internship is in-person at our Omaha, NE office.
- Internship Duration: May 18th, 2026 – August 7th, 2026 (12 weeks)

Essential Job Functions:
Interns will gain exposure and develop skills associated with the essential job functions of departments included in the rotational program. The program is structured to include working 8 weeks in one department and 4 weeks in another, providing hands-on experience across different areas of the business. In addition to their rotations, interns will have opportunities to broaden their understanding of other departments through targeted training, shadowing experiences, and participation in a collaborative project with fellow summer interns.
Structured Products:
- Develop values and risks for proposed deals using spreadsheet-based scenario and simulation modeling, incorporating trader insights, and ensure all analytics are accurately recorded in the company’s CRM system.
- Participate in discussions with deal originators and traders regarding structured deals, advising on alternatives or enhancements to deal structures and their impact on value and risk.
- Learn and utilize various proprietary systems for information requests and prepare cases for prospective deals needing additional approval.
Credit:
- Support daily credit operations by assisting with credit risk assessments, processing payments and cash receipts for margin activities, and contributing to risk reporting and data management within the Enterprise Credit System (ECS).
- Participate in the evaluation of counterparties’ financial health to help determine appropriate credit limits, ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk management guidelines.
- Assist in the review of credit exceptions, verifying compliance with contractual agreements and deal terms to help mitigate risks and maintain adherence to organizational standards.
Deal Capture:
- Provide support for inquiries related to deals and the Gas Management System (GMS) across various TMV departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Identify, comprehend, and capture the risk of all trades and structured deals into risk books and follow established processes to compile and prepare risk reports.
- Assist in monitoring trading activities to ensure compliance with established risk management policies and procedures, helping to maintain adherence to organizational tolerance levels.
Accounting:
- Review and verify supplier invoices for accuracy in volume and pricing, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements and company policies.
- Reconcile invoiced volumes against pipeline statements and assist in matching Gas Management System (GMS) data to the general ledger to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal reports and regulatory filings by gathering and analyzing relevant data, supporting compliance and informed decision-making.
Basic Requirements:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, business intelligence, engineering, or a related field
- Passionate and committed to pursuing a career in the energy industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
Preferred Requirements:
- One year of customer service skills preferred
