Role Overview

For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Human Resources.

Application Deadline: October 13, 2025 (we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis) 

Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. You must also be returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed.

Desired Background: For this position, we are specifically targeting students with a background in Hu-man Resources and a curiosity about technical recruitment, HRIS/ATS, basic data analytics and report-ing. The successful candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals of a diverse set of technical backgrounds and a motivated self-starter. If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
• Screening candidates and advancing high-potential candidates to Discovery and Interview stages.
• Moving candidates through the recruitment lifecycle and providing outstanding candidate experience by applying communication tools and liaising with hiring managers & team 
• Providing recruitment administration and system support of SAP and Applicant Tracking System 
• Supporting Human Resources with regular reporting and data visualization through Excel, PowerBI, Lever Analytics, etc. 
• Support site’s attendance management program
• Support review/approval of Family Responsibility Leave requests
• Assist new Hire orientation and Respectful Workplace training for new hires; including getting signed new hire paperwork/policies, VLO’s and ensuring appropriate documentation is scanned into the employee electronic file/paper file
• Administer/approve Family Responsibility Leave forms
• Assist Claims with Graduated/Return to Work plans
• Assist Claims with monthly SCK reporting
• Assist Claims with long-term disability (LTD) and WorkSafeBC (WSBC) reporting
• Liase with business areas regarding employee’s medical restrictions and claims updates
• Coordinate with Union and plants regarding monthly Union leave requests
• Support and assist other areas of HR as needed

Qualifications

• Background in Human Resources is required
• Preference will be given to students who have previous related recruitment experience
• Experience with Excel, Office365 is required
• Experience with any applicant tracking systems is an asset
• Able to work effectively independently as well as part of the team 
• Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently 
• Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment 
• Able to articulate complex concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand

Pay Range: CAD $4,000-$5,000 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
