Job Summary

The Custom Assembly Technical Specialist creates detailed work orders, quotations and instructions based on customer specifications, providing technical expertise and support to customer and internal teams.

Essential Functions

  • Create work orders and instructions based on customer specifications and lead lines. Cross-reference with bill of materials (BOM) and requests for quotes (RFQ), collaborating with strategic vendor partners.
  • Manage and monitor all quotation requests including but not limited to: quote entry, quote tracking and follow up (win/loss), and margin gain. 
  • Upon award of order, execute project set-up, including but not limited to securing project special pricing agreements (SPAs) from vendors, compiling price files, and transitioning to CSR for order entry/release.  
  • Create and maintain work order templates.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, Product Managers, Pricing, Purchasing, Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) to ensure operational and customer expectations are met. 
  • Provide technical expertise and pricing support to CSRs on products as required.
  • Collaborate with Construction Services Manager to execute on sales and technical support for services.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to Custom Assembly (CAS) processes including, but not limited to: work order templates, work orders, standards, order forms, quality issues, scheduling, adjustments, and stock levels. 
  • Compile submittals, operation and maintenance manuals (O&Ms) and other product documentation for customers.  
  • Coordinate with purchasing and pricing departments throughout the sales process.
  • Provide estimated dates of delivery to customers and/ or CSRs based on knowledge of CAS & warehouse processes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for sales, operations and CAS leadership to expedite orders through the CAS department.
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate data relative to errors and performance. Provide guidance on trends to meet department goals. 
  • Work closely with custom assembly build team to ensure builds meet customers’ expectations electrical codes.
  • Provide post-sales support to customers including: ensuring customer required dates are met, assisting with customer escalated issues, quality checks, and expediting issues to appropriate internal and vendor partners.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Degree is required.
  • 2-5 years’ relevant experience working with electrical products.
  • Previous experience interpreting customer electrical and mechanical designs and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or an equivalent level of experience preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master electrical license is preferred.
  • Experience in electrical prefabrication environment preferred.
  • Working experience within business systems (Solar highly preferred).
