The Director of Financial Reporting provides leadership, vision, and direction for the financial reporting and corporate accounting processes of the company. This includes ensuring compliance with internal policies, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations and other regulatory reporting. Additionally, this role leads the company-wide monthly financial close and consolidation processes, cash and investments accounting, benefits accounting, and stock plan administration and accounting.

What You'Ll Do

  • Lead the company's consolidated financial statements process, including balance sheet, income statement and statements of equity and cash flows
  • Oversee external SEC financial reporting process, including 10Qs, 10Ks, and 8Ks, quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, disclosure checklists, and related support as well as oversee other regulatory and governmental compliance reporting including Department of Transportation reporting
  • Ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting requirements, including monitoring, researching, and implementing recent and proposed accounting pronouncements
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with regulatory standards and internal corporate policies
  • Perform technical accounting research and implement new accounting standards and assist in providing guidance on accounting issues to business groups of the company as needed
  • Lead the administration and accounting for stock compensation plans and make significant contributions to the annual Proxy statement, including the Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) section and Summary Compensation Tables
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team to improve and streamline processes, deliverables, and timelines
  • Manage and coordinate activities to support the completion of internal and external audit requirements
  • Participate in quarterly earnings release and investor updates processes, including review of financial information included in the earnings release and other investor relations’ documents
  • Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements are met for relevant areas and play a lead role in ensuring accounting functions are SOX compliant including executing of internal controls, maintaining documentation, and supporting audit testing and compliance requirements
  • Partner and collaborate with the American treasury, corporate development, financial planning & analysis, finance, executive compensation, and legal teams to support transactions
  • Represent the department in meetings and through written and verbal communication with internal and external customers
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting policies, procedures, and systems (SAP, Hyperion)
  • Mentor and manage the financial reporting team, fostering professional development
  • Perform a variety of other functions/ad-hoc projects to aid in the department and company’s achievement of goals and business objectives

All You'Ll Need For Success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10 years of accounting and finance experience, including 7 years of leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional projects and knowledge with financial reporting, financial processes and systems, SOX compliance, and complex accounting matters
  • Experience in large public accounting firm and/or large publicly traded company required
  • CPA certification required

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA, or other related discipline

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics and integrity
  • Deep knowledge and experience in application of GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements, including financial statements and financial statement footnotes
  • Experience with financial systems (SAP, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management), business performance management systems, and business intelligence software
  • Extensive experience managing and implementing large, complex projects
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of SOX compliance requirements with respect to financial reporting processes
  • Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills and build collaborative relationships with, and consensus amongst, multiple stakeholders with varying points of view

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software products, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
