Job Title: Superintendent, Mining Technology
Reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager, the Superintendent, Mining Technology will drive site-level Mining Technology implementation and management at the Eskay Creek Project. This position plays a critical leadership role in developing Skeena’s mining technology program, Fleet Management System and implementation of HPGPS systems for selective mining.
The ideal candidate will be a field-experienced leader who has rolled out Fleet Management Systems, managed dispatch groups and implemented High Precision GPS hardware on mining fleets. This individual will be a crucial contributor to the successful execution of the Selective Mining Program, working closely with the Production Geology, Mine Engineering, Operations and IT teams at Skeena.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead mine technology projects from concept to implementation, applying project management methodologies to oversee selection, procurement, deployment, installation, commissioning, testing, and steady-state operations of:
- Deliver project milestones on time and within budget.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks.
- Develop, implement, and monitor project progress against plans and dependencies.
- Proactively manage schedule variances.
- Pit Mesh radio network
- High Precision GPS and Fleet Management Systems

Digital Radio System
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with vendors on procurement of hardware, software, and systems.
- Coordinate the delivery of mining technology initiatives in line with business requirements.
- Manage the transition of mining technology services (applications and infrastructure) from development through deployment to steady-state production.
Safety & Leadership
- Promote proactive safety behaviors within workgroups through visible leadership.
- Build and develop the Eskay Creek Fleet Management team, including dispatch, technicians, and operations engineers.
Technology Strategy & Ownership
- Establish and maintain the Mining Technology roadmap for Eskay Creek operations.
- Serve as overall system owner for the Pit Mesh network, Digital Radio system, Fleet Management system, and back-end data.
All other duties as reasonably assigned.

- Education / Qualifications
- Mine Technology Diploma or B.Sc. in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience / Skills
- A minimum of 12+ years’ experience in open pit mining operations, including at least 5 years in a mining technology role.
- Proven expertise in installing and commissioning mining technology systems, large-scale software deployment, and managing dispatch teams.
- Strong knowledge of geochemical and geological data interpretation, 3D modeling (e.g., Deswik, Leapfrog, Vulcan, or similar), and selective mining using HPGPS.
- Highly self-motivated and ability to work with minimal guidance (Must be self-directed).
- Must be able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp.
- Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is CA$140,000- CA$170,000 , in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
