Job Description

This is an opportunity to work with a major insurance company in their Corporate Reinsurance Operations division.  The candidate will assist in operational and analytical tasks, including but not limited to processing contracts into the various reinsurance systems and reconciling ceded premium and loss data.

What You Will Do:

• Develop working knowledge of multiple internal (direct and ceded) data systems and warehouses
• Compile and analyze large sets of data, and identify anomalies and errors
• Interpret reinsurance contract terms for processing, and identify and track items that require manual monitoring/handling
• Communicate with the Ceded Reinsurance department on recent and upcoming treaty placements to develop an understanding of their system needs
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and financial departments on reinsurance activity
• Treaty Processing:
• Responsible for the investigation, resolution and financial reporting of any discrepancies discovered in the reconciliation
• IT Support
• Enter contract details from treaty and automatic facultative placements into reinsurance systems
• Perform premium and loss reconciliations on treaty reinsurance agreements
• Track and calculate manual adjustments to ceded premium and loss on a timely basis
• Maintain historical treaty matrix summaries on all lines of business
• Perform system testing of the reinsurance systems for the processing of, or enhancements to, ceded calculations, as well as testing of data warehouses and reports of ceded data
• Where applicable, perform system testing of the corporate earned premium calculations, as well as testing of data warehouses and reports of earned data

What You will bring to C&F:

• Experience in property and casualty insurance preferred
• College degree in Business, Finance, or related field
• Strong working experience with Microsoft Excel and Access preferred; ability to write SQL queries and work with Power Query is a plus
• Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify inconsistencies
• Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, and organizational skills
• Independent thinker who can work in a dynamic team environment with minimal supervision
• Detail oriented with ability to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $61,900.00 to a maximum of $104,900.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
