In preparation for the public launch of its historic fundraising campaign, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF) is seeking a Vice President (VP), Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship.

As an integral member of the PMCF Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the successful candidate will be an experienced senior leader who will increase the PMCF effectiveness and impact in support of the successful execution of our historic fundraising campaign. In this capacity, the successful candidate will work closely with the CDO and Chief Business Officer (CBO) and their teams, as well as with the Director, Strategy & Transformation, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network (UHN) and other leaders on The Princess Margaret (PM) Executive, as well as physicians and staff across Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the UHN cancer program, to lead the Granting and Donor Stewardship functions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Grant Management, Grant Reporting and Grant Performance. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will cultivate strong relationships with donors, internal stakeholders, and industry partners, where applicable, to manage the entire granting lifecycle, from proposal development to reporting, ensuring compliance with granting guidelines, terms and conditions and all PMCF and UHN policies. This includes: 
  • Assessing current PMCF processes and practices in Granting and Donor Stewardship required to support the successful execution of our historic fundraising campaign.
  • Designing and leading the implementation of enhancements to PMCF processes and practices in Granting and Donor Stewardship, as well as change management recommendations, approved by the PMCF CDO and PMCF CBO to accelerate philanthropic support.
  • Developing and implementing an accountability framework consisting of appropriate meetings, reports, analytics, and other materials needed to effectively manage the donor stewardship and engagement program, under the leadership of the PMCF Associate Vice President, Donor Experience and Stewardship who will report to the VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship.
  • Directing colleagues in tracking grant progress, analyzing results, and preparing reports and compelling stewardship experiences for donors and internal stakeholders
  • Managing and reporting on grant budgets and impact, ensuring that funds are used effectively and efficiently.  
  1. Funding Opportunity Identification, Proposal Development and Strategic Integration for Maximum Impact in our Historic Fundraising Campaign. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will play a key role in identifying and developing transformational gift opportunities, that will be key to the successful execution of our historic fundraising campaign. In particular, the VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will give special attention to unique, institutional strategic initiatives that are cross-business and/or cross-program transformational gift opportunities that will require an elevated level of strategic integration across the PMCF, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, UHN and/or external partners and will deliver an elevated level of impact to donors, the oncology field and our understanding of how cancer is prevented, diagnosed and treated on behalf of cancer patients, their caregivers and families. In this capacity, the VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will work closely with the CDO and their team, other PMCF business leaders, as appropriate, and the PM Executive and their teams.  
  2. Grant Proposal Writing and Submission. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will lead the development  of compelling proposals that effectively communicate our mission to CARRY THE FIRE for a world free from the fear of cancer. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will ensure the right balance between the priorities and policies of the Cancer Centre and a donor’s interests, objectives and expectations.  
  3. Donor Stewardship. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will play a key role in supporting the PMCF CDO, her team, and other PMCF business leaders, as appropriate, in managing donor relationships, including donor communication and engagement.   
  4. Team Leadership. The VP, Granting, Strategic Integration & Donor Stewardship will supervise, mentor, and guide a team of 10+ granting and stewardship professionals. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a leadership role working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, with preference given to candidates with a demonstrated track record of working in fundraising and/or complex healthcare or educational institutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively to identify and develop transformative funding opportunities and compelling donor stewardship and reporting experiences that advance an organization’s mission.
  • A proactive, politically attuned, and diplomatic communicator and leader who is comfortable working with diverse stakeholders while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • A strong, values-based leader and manager able to oversee and support several staff members.
  • A proven record of success by obtaining buy-in from a variety of stakeholders to advance key projects.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, with strong organizational capabilities and a positive attitude.
