Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
We are seeking a highly motivated Quantitative Analyst to join a Gas & Diesel PM in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing and organizing complex datasets—including vessel tracking, refinery outputs, and market fundamentals—to help drive trading insights and decision-making.
This is a hands-on role that requires both strong technical skills and the ability to work closely with traders and analysts to transform raw data into actionable intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, and organize large datasets from multiple sources, including vessel tracking systems, refinery production reports, and market data providers.
- Build and maintain data pipelines to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information to the trading desk.
- Develop quantitative models and tools to identify trading opportunities and risks.
- Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively to traders, analysts, and management.
- Collaborate with trading, risk, and operations teams to design and implement data-driven solutions.
- Explore opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline data workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python (data wrangling, analysis, modeling).
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and managing large datasets.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly Dash, or similar) to build interactive dashboards.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.
- Knowledge of statistical modeling, forecasting, or machine learning techniques.
- Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with cloud and big data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS
- Prior exposure to energy markets, especial oil products, shipping or refinery operations.
- Experience working with real-time or high-frequency data sources.
