As a Test Technician, you will support the validation and reliability testing of battery cells, modules, and packs for Rivian’s Battery Pack program. You will be responsible for executing test procedures, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring accurate data collection to help engineers evaluate performance, safety, and durability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor test equipment such as battery cyclers, thermal chambers, vibration rigs, and high-voltage systems.
  • Execute test protocols for electrical, mechanical, and environmental validation of cells, modules, and packs.
  • Collect, record, and maintain test data with high accuracy, ensuring traceability and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Perform preliminary inspections and troubleshooting of test hardware and fixtures.
  • Support root cause analysis by providing detailed observations, photographs, and documentation.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety standards for high-voltage systems and hazardous materials.
  • Assist engineers in developing new test setups, fixtures, and methods.
  • Maintain lab organization, equipment calibration, and proper documentation practices.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automotive Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in testing, validation, or laboratory environments (battery or high-voltage preferred).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to follow detailed technical instructions.
  • Proficiency with lab instruments, data logging systems, and basic troubleshooting tools.
  • Commitment to safety procedures and strict attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in battery or EV testing environments.
  • Knowledge of test standards for lithium-ion batteries and automotive validation.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype builds, wiring harnesses, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.

Salary: $65,000-90,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
