Your role: 
 
As our Research Analyst, you will support the Senior Director of Research & Insights and other Analysts in day-to-day research activities with an emphasis on the following:  

  • Assist in the preparation of market research reports leveraging secondary or government databases across geographies (US, UK, and Australia) such as IPEDS, Strada, The Chronicle of Higher Ed, National Student Clearinghouse (NSCH), Higher Education Statistic Agency (HESA), Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS), Thomes Higher Education (THE), Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and other higher-education-specific sources. 
  • Assist in the creation of reports for our clients in the higher education, association/member organization, and extended-enterprise business sectors; and internal stakeholders on the market context and opportunity spaces for their programs and products (market data, discipline data, search volume data, competitive sets, data visualization, etc.) through leveraging secondary research and tools (Google search volume, BLS data, IPEDS data, Lightcast, Online Degree Database, and others)
  • Synthesize and analyze primary and/or secondary market research data to provide product insights, trend data, and competitive intelligence.
  • Assist in the update of key academic discipline-related tools such as Higher Ed Market Scans by geography (US, UK, and Australia) and Opportunity Matrix tool development
  • Support the execution of primary research projects including survey design, methodology, sample design, analysis, data visualizations, and report creation.

This role interacts with other analysts in Research & Insights as well as other key teams (Product & Service Management, Portfolio Management & Growth, Enrollment & Retention) to share content on key work products and ensure connectivity and reporting. 

Your Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Market Research, Statistics, Behavioral Sciences, or equivalent discipline OR appropriate combination of experience and education
  • Preferably 1-2 years of experience in higher education research, marketing analytics, strategy, consulting, or related experience
  • A demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision under highly-dynamic workloads
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Ability to work creatively, using a variety of resources with a track record of developing actionable recommendations from research data and desire to stay up-to-date and engaged with cultural trends to bring fresh, relevant points of view to the development of strategy and creative visualizations
  • Strong reliance on data to tell the story and ability to provide data to support or refute assumptions
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills to analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and present data findings; The ability to use and assess data - both qualitative and quantitative; the ability to structure analysis and derive logical, accurate conclusions will be critical.
  • Software experience with: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including using and creating templates and data visualization tools)
  • Preferred, but not required: Experience with educational datasets or analytical tools that monitor education, workforce, or labor trends such as: Google Adwords search volume, Lightcast, BLS data, Online Degree Database, IPEDs, Education Statistic Agency (HESA), Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS), Thomes Higher Education (THE), Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
