Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive VAT Manager to lead and manage indirect tax compliance across Europe, support ERP/tax engine configuration, and drive continuous improvement in VAT processes. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate VAT reporting, supporting audits, and aligning tax requirements with business operations and digital transformation initiatives such as e-invoicing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of European VAT returns, EC Sales Listings, and Intrastat filings
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local VAT legislation across jurisdictions
- Support local finance teams during VAT audits and disputes with tax authorities
- Assist with VAT registrations and deregistration across jurisdictions
- Act as the bridge between the Tax function and ERP implementation teams
- Lead the configuration, testing, and maintenance of VAT functionality in ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar)
- Maintain and update indirect tax master data
- Support the implementation of e-invoicing and digital reporting requirements
- Gather VAT business requirements from Procurement, Accounts Payable, and other functions
- Ensure proper documentation (e.g. transport documents, combined nomenclature) is in place to support VAT positions
- Lead or support continuous improvement projects in VAT compliance and reporting
- Provide VAT input into supply chain design and transformation projects (e.g. Principal vs. Distributor models)

Skills Requested
Technical Skills
- Degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, or Finance
- Additional certifications in Indirect Tax or ERP systems are a plus
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in European VAT compliance, ideally in a multinational environment
- Strong understanding of ERP transactional flows and tax engine logic
- Experience with e-invoicing mandates and digital VAT reporting is a strong plus
- Familiarity with customs compliance and willingness to expand into this area
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP) and tax engines (e.g. Vertex, Avalara)
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets
- Fluency in English; other European languages are an asset
