Upstream Rehabilitation is looking for a New Revenue Senior Analyst to join our team!

Position Summary:

The New Revenue Senior Analyst is responsible for performing detailed analysis and supporting all aspects of net revenue accounting, analysis and forecasting. This position plays a key role in evaluating payor performance, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, monitoring contractual allowances, monitoring payor integrity and identifying trends in reporting that are impactful to the company’s financial performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare finance and an understanding of outpatient reimbursement methodologies. Additionally, this role will provide ad hoc analysis in support of cross-functional initiatives.

This position is responsible for supporting the mission, vision, and values of Upstream Rehabilitation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate net revenue accrual estimates based on historical trends, payor contract shifts, reimbursement patterns, and operational input.
  • Support of month end close process through preparation of journal entries for EMR activity/stats and monthly net revenue accrual and maintain reconciliation between the general ledger and source systems
  • Prepare and analyze monthly net revenue KPI’s to monitor appropriateness of A/R reserves and identify unexpected shifts by payor or clinics for accrued net revenue, aging, denials and write-offs.
  • Perform hindsight lookback analysis of historical net accounts receivable estimates to help evaluate the accuracy of the accrual methodology.
  • Monitor insurance payment accuracy to ensure it aligns with contracted rates and collaborates with the Payor Contracting and Revenue Cycle functions to validate and recover underpayments.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Payor Contracting and Revenue Cycle functions.
  • Partner with FP&A to provide analysis and insights that support the budgeting and modeling of net revenue rate improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, payer regulations, and internal controls related to revenue recognition.
  • Maintain mapping between EMR systems to the general ledger.
  • Perform other duties and analysis as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or equivalent degree) required

Experience:

  • 3+ years in financial planning and analysis
  • Proven experience in Healthcare field, preferably with emphasis in outpatient physical therapy environments.

Core Skills:

  • Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle process and familiarity with EMRs (preferred Raintree)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to elevate review to prioritize most impactful outcomes
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, revenue modeling, and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various levels of management and translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Healthcare field, preferably with emphasis in outpatient physical therapy environments.
  • Experience with Raintree EMR

Physical Requirements:

  • This position is subject to inside environmental conditions: protections from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes; exposed to noise consistent with indoor environment.
  • This is a full-time position operating within normal business hours Monday through Friday, with an expectation of minimum of 40 hours per week; May be required to attend special events some evenings and weekends, or work additional hours as needed.
  • This position is subject to sedentary work.
  • Constantly sits, with ability to interchange with standing as needed.
  • Constantly communicates with associates, must be able to hear and speak to accurately exchange information in these situations.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment such as printers, phone, keyboard, mouse and copy machines using gross and fine manipulation.
  • Constantly uses repetitive motions to type.
  • Must be able to constantly view computer screen (near acuity) and read items on screen.
  • Must have ability to comprehend information provided, use judgement to appropriately respond in various situations.
  • Occasionally walks, stands, pushes or pulls 0-20 lbs., lifts 0-20 lbs. from floor to waist; carries, pushes, and pulls 0-20 lbs.
  • Rarely crawls, crouches, kneels, stoops, climbs stairs or ladders, reaches above shoulder height, lifts under 10 lbs. from waist to shoulder.
