People Operations Intern

At SumUp, we empower small businesses to succeed through simple, accessible financial tools—and our People Operations team plays a key role in this mission.

We support our colleagues across Spain, France, Italy, Ireland, and the UK by ensuring they have the right processes, tools, and support to thrive. We are now looking for a motivated HR Working Student (Internship/Apprenticeship) to join our Barcelona team and contribute to the success of our international HR operations.

Important: You must have valid working-student authorization in Spain and be fluent in both Spanish and English.

Your Responsibilities

• Support HR administration, including preparation of contracts and amendments, onboarding and offboarding processes, probation follow-ups, and absence tracking
• Help manage employee benefits across countries (e.g., meal vouchers, learning budget, medical checks, and wellness initiatives)
• Maintain and update our internal Notion pages related to HR policies and procedures
• Learn and work with Workday: update employee records, track changes, and ensure data accuracy for payroll
• Gain exposure to international employment practices and compliance across Spain, France, Italy, the UK, and Ireland

Your Profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor (3rd/4th year) or Master’s program in Human Resources, Employment Law, Business Administration, or a related field
• Fluent in both Spanish and English, written and spoken (essential for day-to-day communication)
• Valid student work authorization in Spain (internship or apprenticeship contract required)
• Well-organized, curious, and proactive with a strong sense of responsibility
• Comfortable managing multiple topics simultaneously and working in a dynamic environment
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using tools like Google Workspace and Excel
