We’re scaling fast and need a Senior HR Generalist who can do more than just “keep up” - someone who anticipates needs, drives process improvements, and ensures our People programs are strategic, compliant, and employee-centered. You’ll own critical parts of the employee lifecycle, provide expert guidance to managers, and serve as a trusted point of contact for all things HR.
What You’Ll Be Doing
- Lead and optimize the administration of HR programs, policies, and processes, ensuring they align with Built’s mission, values, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with leaders and employees to address questions, resolve issues, and deliver solutions that balance business needs with employee experience.
- Own the benefits function end-to-end — from strategy and annual renewal through ongoing administration — including plan design recommendations, vendor evaluations, cost analysis, and employee education.
- Serve as the primary liaison with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party vendors, negotiating terms, reviewing performance metrics, and ensuring high service levels.
- Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning timelines, coordinating with brokers, developing employee communications, delivering presentations, and managing system updates.
- Manage FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, and other leave programs, ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.
- Facilitate an engaging, inclusive New Hire Orientation and iterate content to keep it fresh, relevant, and inspiring.
- Partner with the Director, Talent Management to create a best-in-class onboarding experience that accelerates time-to-productivity.
- Collaborate with People leadership to refine employee development plans, performance review cycles, and engagement initiatives.
- Manage vendor relationships (e.g., I-9 compliance providers), holding partners accountable to service-level agreements and quality standards.
- Track and analyze HR and benefits data, identifying trends, recommending improvements, and creating reports for leadership.
- Lead compliance efforts for mandatory postings, reporting, and filings; maintain accurate, compliant personnel records.
- Handle unemployment claims, investigations, and sensitive employee relations matters with discretion and fairness.
- Serve as a process owner for case management (JIRA, AllVoices), ensuring timely resolution and continuously refining workflows.
- Mentor and guide more junior HR team members on process execution, systems, and best practices.
- Support employee life cycle actions at key milestones (new hire support, terminations, etc.)
What We’Re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) and 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a fast-paced, growth environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in benefits strategy, administration, and vendor management, including negotiating with brokers and carriers, analyzing plan performance, and delivering employee-facing education.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local HR compliance and employment law, with experience applying it in a multi-state environment.
- Proven success leading annual open enrollment from planning through post-enrollment analysis.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now, and experience leveraging HR tech for automation and insights.
- Skilled at analyzing HR and benefits metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate sensitive issues and build trust across the organization.
