Role Overview
LHV Bank is seeking an experienced Director of Treasury permanent or Interim to lead core treasury activities during a period of growth. The role will have primary responsibility for liquidity management, cash forecasting, regulatory compliance with liquidity and funding ratios, ownership of the Bank’s ILAAP, market risk management (interest rate and FX), preparation of ALCo reporting, and treasury input into product initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring strong technical knowledge, regulatory awareness, and the ability to work closely with Finance, Risk, Group Treasury and the wider business to ensure the Bank’s balance sheet remains resilient, well-funded, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
Liquidity & Funding
• Lead liquidity management across the Bank, ensuring sufficient cash and funding to support business activities including intraday liquidity management across all currencies (primarily Euro and GBP).
• Prepare and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly liquidity reporting to senior management and ALCo.
• Ensure full compliance with PRA regulatory requirements, including LCR, NSFR, and internal liquidity risk appetite metrics.
• Own and update the Bank’s funding plan, aligning it with business growth, capital plans, and regulatory expectations.
• Manage relationships with funding counterparties and deposit-raising channels.
- Forecasting & Planning
- • Lead cash flow forecasting and stress testing processes, ensuring robust methodologies and clear communication of results.
- • Provide forward-looking analysis to support decision-making on balance sheet strategy.
- ILAAP (Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process)
- • Lead and own the Bank’s ILAAP, ensuring compliance with PRA requirements.
- • Develop and maintain the Bank’s ILAAP framework, methodologies, and documentation.
- • Coordinate with Finance, Risk, and business units to ensure assumptions and data inputs are accurate and consistent.
- • Present ILAAP findings and implications to ALCo and the Board.
- • Ensure that ILAAP outcomes are integrated into strategic planning, risk appetite setting, and stress testing frameworks.
- Hedging & Interest Rate Risk Management
- • Lead the Bank’s interest rate risk management strategy, ensuring exposures remain within risk appetite and regulatory limits.
- • Design and execute appropriate hedging strategies (e.g. interest rate swaps) to manage balance sheet risk.
- • Monitor and report on hedge effectiveness, working closely with Finance and Risk functions.
- • Provide ALCo and the Board with clear analysis of IRRBB exposures and hedging performance.
- Currency / FX Risk Management
- • Monitor and manage the Bank’s currency and FX exposures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- • Implement appropriate hedging and position management to minimise FX risk.
- • Oversee daily monitoring, stress testing, and reporting of FX risk metrics.
- • Provide treasury input into product initiatives with FX implications (e.g. payments, cross-border activity).
- Product & Business Support
- • Partner with product, payments, and lending teams to provide treasury input on new initiatives, assessing liquidity and funding implications.
- • Support structuring of new products to ensure funding and liquidity are efficiently managed.
- Risk, Compliance & Governance
- • Act as the first line of defence in identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling treasury-related risks.
- • Ensure robust compliance with PRA liquidity and funding reporting, working closely with Regulatory Reporting colleagues
- • Implement controls and governance to ensure high-quality MI and data integrity.
- • Serve as a member of ALCo, preparing all ALCo reporting and presenting treasury-related matters clearly and accurately to the committee.
- Group Treasury relationship
- • Maintain a strong and close relationship with the Group Treasury team.
Leadership
• Provide clear, actionable updates on liquidity, funding, and regulatory compliance to the CFO, ALCo, and the Board.
• Mentor and support junior colleagues, building resilience within the function.
- Experience and skills:
- • Proven track record in a senior treasury role within a UK bank (Senior Treasury Manager, Head of Treasury, or Treasury Director).
- • Strong understanding of PRA liquidity and market risk requirements
- • Hands-on experience in liquidity risk management, cash forecasting, ALCo reporting, and ILAAP ownership.
- • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and regulated environment.
- • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
- • Comfortable working in an interim capacity, with the ability to deliver immediate impact.
