Amity is committed to research, development implementation, and dissemination of information regarding community building. Remembrance, Resolution, Reconciliation, Restoration, Renewal About the Position:The Rental Payment/Housing Placement Coordinator will perform an array of services that assist with obtaining and maintaining permanent housing. Coordinates the billing aspects of the rental and housing assistance services to ensure seamless payments to property owners providing housing to the individuals served.

What You Will Do:

  • Accomplishes financial objectives for rent payments subsidies
  • Prepare a rental payment budget in accordance with monthly subsidy payments
  • Develops a rental payment tracking system specific to project rent guidelines.
  • Assess housing and personal history information (housing history, evictions, income, credit history, debts, etc.).
  • Collaborate with case managers for case follow up regarding nonpayment of rents by participants.
  • Input rental payment case notes and data entry into the designated data collection system.
  • Maintain and update information in participant files.
  • Assist with completing applications, or other documentation support.
  • Deliver monthly rental payments to various landlords and property owners.
  • Advocate to landlords or potential landlords regarding rental unit availability for participants.
  • Assist in acquisition of furniture and/or appliances.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.
  • May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.          
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or social science and one (1) year of experience providing outreach, substance abuse counseling, reentry services or case management within a culturally diverse population.
  • Recognition of the importance of individual differences created by personalities, cultures, lifestyles, social networks, and other factors that influence behavior.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply this knowledge to participant attitudes towards acquisition and maintenance of long-term housing.
  • Knowledge of local housing market and community resources such as knowledge of subsidized housing and low-income utility assistance processes.
  • Ability to integrate and align housing opportunities with participant interest, proximity to job and essential community resources.
  • Ability to work co-operatively with network of landlords and community resource providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community and within the organization.
  • Ability to work constructively with diverse people and with parties that may have divergent perspectives and interests.
  • Ensure that excellence and integrity are applied to professional responsibilities to provide optimal services to participants.
  • Understand and appropriately apply Amity policies and procedures and adhere to agency wide practices and regulations.
  • Participate in community building activities as appropriate to position.
  • Protect program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
  • As an interface between potential landlords, community resources, and participants, an attitude of appropriate advocacy for participants is essential.
