As Klaviyo has grown to support over 140k customers globally, the internal Klaviyo Database (KDB) has scaled to process over 2.5B average events daily, storing over 7.3B customer profiles.

As the Sr. Director of Product, Data Platform for Klaviyo, you will define and lead the higher order product vision and strategy for the Klaviyo Database (KDB) and operationalize this strategy across multiple teams under your domain leadership. This is a pivotal role that will shape how Klaviyo manages and leverages its vast data assets, directly impacting the ability of our application engineers, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to build innovative products and derive critical insights. You will translate Klaviyo's ambitious data infrastructure goals into actionable product plans, ensuring the KDB meets the evolving needs of internal teams and enables future product expansion. You will lead a team of product managers and collaborate closely with engineering leadership to deliver a centralized, resilient, and performant data solution.

This role will also have close alignment with Klaviyo’s Enterprise Initiative, ensuring our platform and products can increasingly adapt to growing Enterprise customer needs, establishing and driving impact against cross-functional OKRs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Vision & Execution: Develop and articulate a compelling 3-5 year product vision and strategy for the Klaviyo Database, aligning it with Klaviyo's overall business objectives and long-term data infrastructure goals.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and other departments to refine our product roadmap. Ensure cross-functional alignment and smooth execution of product and business initiatives, including supporting Klaviyo’s Enterprise motion.
  • Team Development & Management at Scale: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product managers and people leaders. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer & Market Focus: Gather insights from customers, market trends, and competitive analysis to inform product decisions. Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring our products solve real problems and enhance user experiences—whether your customers are internal or external.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Implement processes and tools that improve efficiency and streamline workflows.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate product vision, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders, including executives and cross-functional teams. Ensure transparency and alignment across the organization.
  • Performance & Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product initiatives. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and iterate on product strategies.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. Drive innovation within the product team and across the organization, exploring new opportunities to enhance Klaviyo's product offerings.
  • Technical Depth: Demonstrate a deep understanding of technology, architecture, and product development. Engage with engineering teams to address technical challenges, unblock issues, and ensure product scalability and reliability.

What We’Re Looking For:

  • 12+ years in product management, with a proven track record of leading large-scale products and initiatives in a SaaS environment; experience defining and executing product strategies for backend infrastructure teams highly preferred.
  • 7+ years leading and developing product leaders and managers; proven ability to inspire, scale, and transform organizations.
  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems, data platforms, and database technologies, with the ability to engage in architecture discussions and guide technical trade-offs.
  • Track record of shaping company-wide strategy and driving impact across multiple functions.
  • Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills; comfortable engaging with customers, C-suite leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions and optimize product strategies. Experience with A/B testing, data analytics, and customer feedback integration.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees or certifications in product management, business, or technology are a plus.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a foundational product area at Klaviyo, directly impacting our ability to innovate and scale. You will play a critical role in building a centralized, cutting-edge data platform that empowers our entire organization and ultimately delivers immense value to our customers. If you are a visionary product leader with a passion for data and distributed systems, we encourage you to apply.
