Position Overview
As an Engineer III at Very Good Ventures, you will play a key role within one of our client teams, a rapidly growing global air mobility platform utilizing a technology-powered, asset light model with unrivaled brand recognition.
You will work with your Engineering teammates in a client project to provide software solutions and automated tests to complex and exciting problems, .
With the support of the team, you will be able to write code that follows VGV standards, you will write many tests (unit, widget, integration...), you will pair with many of your colleagues, and you will collaborate with teammates from other disciplines (design, product…) to define and execute the delivery plan of the project.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Developers at this level are well-trusted members of the team. They are well-versed in the patterns used in the project; they impact every area of the product/service under development, and can guide others as well to get their tasks done.
Our Engineers III focus on supporting the development of the team and know how to tackle complex technical challenges as well, meeting the following expectations:
- Demonstrating a clear understanding of the project(s), language(s), framework(s), and pattern(s)
- Expressing themselves with clarity and authority in front of our clients, being capable of leading demos and engineering status updates
- Coaching and pairing up with other engineers (debug, tests, usage of tools…) giving effective code reviews to teammates to help them become better developers
- Taking an active role in planning and breaking down units of work into small pieces
- Onboarding new teammates into the project they are working on, covering details like feature set, architecture, testing strategy, deployments, etc.
- Seeking out help when blocked, and offering their support to others in need when they are confident that they can help
- Keeping effective communication within the team
Qualifications
- Advanced English language command (C1 or higher)
- University Degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
- At least 2 years of professional experience working with Flutter applications. Deep understanding of the framework and how dependency injection and scoping dependencies work using provider
- Complete understanding of flutter_bloc
- Strong understanding of the capabilities of critical third party products, such as Firebase, Auth0, AWS, Google Map, etc.
- Proven proficiency with frontend technologies (like Flutter or React) and backend technologies (Firebase, AWS…)
- Passion for software development, testing and automation
- A Github repository with at least one Flutter project (extra kudos if your Flutter project uses flutter_bloc and has a good set of unit and/or widget tests!)
- Positive recommendations from your previous managers and teammates
- You actively share your professional journey and experiences in your preferred channels (LinkedIn, Twitter…)
- You show interest in public speaking and participate in your first activities as a speaker (local meetups, team presentations, or even larger events)
