What You'Ll Do...
Role summary:As a Senior Data Engineer at Walmart, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models that support critical business decisions. Leveraging expertise in data integration, governance, and quality, you will transform complex data into actionable insights aligned with strategic objectives. This role requires proficiency in SQL, cloud platforms, and data warehousing technologies to optimize data accessibility and reliability. You will collaborate across functions to ensure data solutions meet evolving business needs while upholding high standards of integrity, compliance, and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Platform Intelligence team develops Watchtower, a centralized operational hub that enhances incident response and error correction at scale. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and build data pipelines and event-driven systems using technologies like React, TypeScript, Redis, Kafka, and PostgreSQL. The team focuses on integrating automation with human oversight to support critical operations across the company. Collaborating closely with engineers, you will contribute to maintaining data quality, governance, and strategy, ensuring reliable and efficient data solutions that empower thousands of users during key operational moments.
What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to support business analytics and reporting needs.
- Design and implement data models, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility across platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions aligned with data strategy.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and integration using appropriate tools and techniques in cloud and big data environments.
- Apply data governance standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical requirements.
- Conduct code development, testing, and deployment to deliver reliable data engineering solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members on data-related challenges.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in data engineering, including data integration, modeling, and pipeline development.
- Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Google BigQuery.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
- Expertise in designing and maintaining data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise big data platforms.
- Skilled in applying data transformation techniques and ensuring data accessibility and scalability.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to deliver actionable business insights through data.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
