Position Summary/Purpose:
The Game Entertainment Student Worker supports game day operations by coordinating in-game entertainment, promotions, and fan engagement activities at GCU athletic events. This role involves cueing game elements like music and scripts, collaborating with spirit teams and event staff, and contributing creative ideas to enhance the fan experience. It requires strong organization, communication, and a passion for sports and student involvement.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
- Execute In-Game Entertainment: Assist with all game day entertainment elements including pregame shows, in-game promotions, timeouts, contests, halftimes, and overall fan engagement across all campus athletic events.
- Call and Cue Game Elements: Support real-time game calling and cueing of in-game elements such as music, scripts, spirit squad prompts, and promotional activations to ensure a smooth and engaging event flow.
- Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Communicate and coordinate with Spirit Program coaches, Athletics/Event staff, PA announcers, DJs, and other game day personnel to maintain alignment and execute the game plan effectively.
- Contribute Creative Ideas & Scripts: Develop and present creative concepts to enhance fan experiences; write and edit game scripts, timing sheets, and promotional outlines for various sports and events.
- Support Spirit Groups & Fan Sections: Work directly with cheer, dance, mascots, band and havocs to energize the crowd and create a dynamic, inclusive game atmosphere.
- Lead, Learn & Prepare: Show leadership and teamwork among peers; continuously learn different sports and adapt for fan engagement; work office hours to plan, prepare, and assist with event setup and breakdown.

Qualifications:
- Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimalsupervision as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonalskills with peers, coworkers, and managers
- Creative ideas to elevate GCU gameday experience
- Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Passion for entertainment, fan experience, spirit programs, athletics, student engagement, leadership, etc.
Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
