This is not your parent’s internship program – you won’t be getting coffee and ordering lunch. Our Interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience. Summer internships are typically 10-12 weeks starting in late May/early June and work an average of 40 hours a week. Depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria during your internship, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation. As an Intern, you'll ask questions, get involved, bring your ideas, be part of an actual project team, attend planning meetings, complete assignments as tasked by your team, absorb and learn from your team and apply that learning to projects assigned. You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and SNC culture.As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that could indicate security threats
  • Model Development: Develop and implement predicative models and algorithms to detect and prevent cybersecurity incidents
  • Threat Identification: Assist in identifying potential cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities through data-driven insights
  • Collaborative Projects: Work alongside cybersecurity professionals on real-world projects, contributing to the development of innovative security solutions
  • Data Visualization: Create visualization to communicate findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Tool Utilization: Utilize various data science and cybersecurity tools and technologies to enhance data analysis and threat detection capabilities
  • Process Improvement: Assist in developing and refining processes and methodologies for data analysis and threat detection
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in training sessions, workshops, and seminars to stay updated on the latest development in cybersecurity and data science

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or technical school, with at least 6 months until graduation after end of internship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Currently pursing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL and experience with data analysis tools and libraries
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and experience with relevant tools and framework is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks and problem solving
  • Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and data science with a strong desire to learn and stay updated on industry trends and technologies
  • Previous internship or project experience in cybersecurity, data science, or related field is preferred but not required
  • Microsoft Access skills

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
