Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a Mid-Level Cloud Platform Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in Reston, VA. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and automation to deliver secure, scalable, and mission-critical solutions. You’ll be part of a collaborative team working to modernize systems through containerization and orchestration while ensuring high availability and operational excellence.

This position offers the opportunity to directly impact national security missions by designing and managing cloud-based platforms that drive efficiency, reliability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud-based platforms to support mission applications.
• Develop and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Automate system configurations, orchestrate network operations, and manage DevOps pipelines for deployment and scaling.
• Administer and optimize Git-based version control systems (GitLab, GitHub) to ensure streamlined CI/CD processes.
• Architect and deploy applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform strategy, set standards, and implement best practices for containerization and orchestration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in cloud and containerized environments to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies.

• Active Ts/Sci

• 3+ years of experience with automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Puppet).
• 3+ years of experience automating system configurations, orchestrating DevOps pipelines, scaling deployments, and managing day-to-day operations in cloud environments.
• 3+ years of experience managing Git-based version control systems (GitLab, GitHub).
• 2+ years of experience architecting and deploying applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code for automated server/network configurations, deployments, and monitoring/testing.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines in large-scale cloud environments.
• Strong background in system integration using JSON, REST, and XML.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby.
• Experience leveraging JSON, YAML, or XML for configuration management.
• Agile, DevOps, or Cloud certifications preferred.
