What You’Ll Do

As a Sous Chef, you will contribute to the success of SentryWorld’s Banquet and Events team by providing a top-notch dining experience for all our guests by:

  • Preparing food items, soups and sauces and developing appropriate food items for menu.
  • Providing guidance to kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.
  • Organizing the food items required for the daily menu within the restaurant concept.
  • Overseeing and organizing kitchen stock and ingredients.
  • Assisting the Executive Chef with food preparation, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • Overseeing and leading back-of-house staff in the Executive Chef’s absence.
  • May support and maintain a culture of “concierge-like” service by providing a highly personalized level of service to customers

Additionally, You Will:

  • Maintain or exceed all state, federal & industrial food service sanitation requirements
  • Mastery of proper product rotation and storage.
  • Work on banquet and special functions, which may require working beyond normally scheduled.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time

What It Takes

  •  Technical Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Must be able to obtain ServSafe and TIPS Certification
  • Farm-to-table experience desirable
  • Knowledge of sauté, broiler, sanitation and all aspects of food preparation.
  • Experience in banquet preparation.
  • Hours for this job include working at night, weekends and holidays.
  • Additional hours may be needed beyond the normally scheduled hours to prepare for banquets/special functions.
