Job Description:

The Trading & Supply Products business is committed to maximizing long-term value in oil product markets by driving commercial excellence, strategic market positioning, and innovative supply solutions. These efforts are closely aligned with Downstream’s overarching goals of strong cash generation and high returns on capital. The Products business operates on a global scale, managing everything from sourcing fuel components and products—whether through equity refining or third-party purchases—to supplying finished fuels to branded Marketing operations and engaging in sales to a wide range of counterparties via its worldwide proprietary trading activities.

The T&S Business Development team provides essential support to the Cluster Operation team by implementing projects and studies aimed at further enhancing cash delivery. The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing major capital expenditure projects, conducting investment and divestment negotiations related to assets, and driving substantial cost reduction initiatives within their designated country or cluster. Additionally, the role entails identifying new business opportunities from a trading perspective, such as capacity trading and developing new product flows.

Accountabilities:

Act as Business Opportunity Manager for big-ticket items projects (capex related) in the Maintain Margin and Growth categories. Coordinate both technical elements and align scope and business case with Operation/Business partners. Accountable for Investment Proposals (IP); provide business support during the post-IP execution phase. Manage acquisition/divestment projects to strengthen/align assets based on strategic needs. Run negotiations with external stakeholders required for scoping/executing those projects under his/her accountability. Participate in studies and be accountable for delivering projects further to align the supply chain with the strategic assets (buy/sell asset shares to ensure network strategic fit – lead related negotiation). Manage all negotiations with external stakeholders for accountable projects.  Align with business partners to ensure smooth coordination and progress of all projects using an end-to-end approach. Reflect and propose changes once business activities are at risk. Constantly review and propose new ideas to extract cash from the existing Supply Chain. Support T&S operational colleagues in preparing and integrating supply chain changes whenever required. Build competitive intelligence to understand competition behaviour in the hydrocarbon and logistic environment. Recommend, as necessary, aggressive/defensive moves to react early to competition threats as an NBD focal point for the Trading desk.

“Shell & Turcas Petrol A.S.” and “The Shell Company of Türkiye” are prominent oil distribution companies operating in Turkey. T&S oversees the nationwide availability of fuel products and ensures the most efficient supply methods for oil products. ·

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate, possessing 10-15 years of relevant experience, will be required to operate effectively within the dynamic governance environment of the Turkish joint venture.
  • This individual should demonstrate the ability to respond promptly and accurately to complex and occasionally competing priorities, ensuring the achievement of targeted commercial outcomes.
  • Success in this role necessitates adeptness at managing multiple demands while maintaining professionalism when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • We seek professionals who are comfortable meeting deadlines in a vibrant, fast-paced, and often evolving setting, where strong analytical abilities, project management expertise, strategic thinking, a commercial orientation, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative skills are critical.
  • This position is commercially focused, requiring the incumbent to lead urgent negotiations or address unforeseen operational challenges as they arise. The selected candidate will be an integral member of the T&S Europe/SA Business Development Team.
