Context
Works as part of a team of application engineer specialists, focusing on the design and implementation of technical solutions in support of customer needs (in- and outside of IT). Generally works within one or multiple teams in a Release Train.
Executes the most complex tasks to build new solutions in line with industry standards. Understands the application software roadmap and oversees the larger system. Supports and signals problems on the level of the Agile Release Train. Acts as a mentor for colleagues to explain problems / solutions.
Requirements
Experienced IT Applications Engineering professional with relevant (e.g. information technology, computer science, or other) Master degree or equivalent thinking and working level, with thorough work experience in IT applications development.
Requires extensive knowledge, built on a deep understanding of the theoretical concepts and principles and their context and how to apply this in different domains, like SAP/ERP, PLM, Integration/Middleware/Automation, UX design and/or other IT applications/software development technologies.
Responsibilities
Software Application Roadmap
Supports roadmap to facilitate application software development and ensures the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements. Plans major changes in close consultation with other IT competences / IT teams.
Business Requirements Analysis
Collects existing business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis to express requirements clearly and succinctly. Escalates issues to stakeholders/higher levels. Documents "as is" and "to be" processes and describes the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.
Architectural Co-Design And Conceptualization
Produces multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services. Discusses and recommends technical developments to improve quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
Software & Application Development
- Designs, selects, implements and supports solutions in line with industry best practice and provides a third-line point of escalation for appropriate solutions.
- Commits on targets, cost and result. Solves escalated multiple complex problems or incidents and formulates alternative solutions.
- Lists potential solutions for issues / requirements and provides well based advice to business on preferred solution.
Testing
Independently performs solution tests and monitors, diagnoses, and corrects issues.
Software & Application Operations
Ensures the availability of the services provided in cooperation with colleagues from other IT specialty areas. Supports data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for product/service improvement.
Risk & Compliance
Defines straightforward control measures on Information Security (e.g., encryption), Data Management (build, maintain and govern the liability of the trusted dataset), Business Continuity (e.g., back-up recovery) and Regulatory Compliancy (e.g., review privacy, retention, SOX). Proposes solution to Security Experts about security risks or problems.
Competence Development
Acts as mentor towards colleagues up to JG6 and contributes actively to competence development.
Business Support (Only Applicable For Designated Regional Roles)
Acts as regional operational business partner supporting business in efficiently executing their business processes, incl supporting them in defining IT improvement. Provides support to regional key users for incidents and questions, including if required escalation to IT support partners and vendors. Provides support to global and regional project initiatives; from design review through testing and deployment, including training.
