About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Advisor, Policy and Workplace Relations to join our dynamic People and Workplace Relations team. This role will provide high-level support and expertise across a broad range of workplace relations matters, playing a pivotal case management role in ensuring the best possible outcomes for our staff and the wider University community.
You will play a key part in fostering a positive work environment and supporting our people leaders in navigating industrial disputes, performance management, misconduct, organisational change, complaint management and more.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about shaping workplace culture and has experience in navigating complex industrial and employee relations issues within large organisations.
About You
- Competent knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 and a strong ability to become an expert in RMIT University’s enterprise agreements and policies.
- Demonstrated experience in case management and managing industrial disputes through to resolution.
- A comprehensive understanding of procedural fairness and natural justice principles.
- Proven experience advising on a broad range of employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct, industrial disputes, change management, grievances and terminations in large, complex organisations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
- Proven experience negotiating with unions, clients, and senior stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Ability to diagnose, recommend, and implement innovative solutions to workplace issues, including early interventions and alternative dispute resolution strategies.
- Solid knowledge of contemporary HR practices and strategies, including performance management and organisational change.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees and people leaders at all levels.
