Position Summary:
As a Paint Preparation Technician at Coperion (formerly Schenck) in Sabetha, Kansas, you will play a key role in preparing parts and equipment for painting. Your work ensures that components are properly cleaned, masked, and organized to meet quality standards and production schedules. This position supports our commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Shift: 1st Shift - Flexible Start Time (9hrs, 45 hours per week)

What You’Ll Do:

  • Wipe product down with thinner to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Properly manage and dispose of all hazardous waste generated during the preparation process.
  • Mask off non-painted parts to ensure clean, precise finishes.
  • Hang parts on racks for painting, ensuring proper organization and safety.
  • Skid units prior to painting to facilitate handling and transport.
  • Assist in the assembly of parts prior to painting, supporting the overall workflow.
  • Support safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to paint prep and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs.

  • You will be part of Coperion’s manufacturing team at our Sabetha, KS facility working alongside skilled technicians and production staff. Your contributions will help ensure the timely and quality completion of painted components, supporting our commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior paint preparation experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and safety procedures accurately.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support production schedules.
  • Basic understanding of hazardous waste handling and disposal procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in paint prep or related manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and quality.
