About The Role
Switchboard Operators manage a nucleus of information for staff, patients, relatives and external agencies. St Vincent’s Switchboard is located within the Inpatient Services Building at Fitzroy and operates 24 hours 7 days per week.
The classification for this position will be HS1 ($58,442 per annum pro rata)
Duties
- Hospital Switchboard operations – Ensure Calls are answered in an appropriate manner and all callers are treated in a polite and courteous manner
- Demonstrate high levels of communication skills appropriate to Switchboard functions
- Operation and management of Hospital Paging system
- Receipt, management and coordination of all Emergency Codes
- Provide accurate patient enquiry information
Selection Criteria
- Experience in a health service environment
- Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills
- Strong computer literacy
- Sound typing skills
- Experience in working in a switchboard setting
