The Insurance, Product, Assumption, Model (IPAM) team enables Enterprise end-to-end management of Insurance, Product, Assumption, and Model Risk. Operational Risk Management (ORM) teams within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) support the priorities of Prudential’s Corporate Functions by helping ensure that informed business decisions are made related to risks in proposed and existing processes.

We are seeking a Director, Operational Risk Management, to join our risk management team, to support Finance and Actuarial (FAC) 2nd line operational risk management. This role provides a tremendous opportunity to interact with senior management, Audit, FAC, and other Risk Management teams.

This position is responsible for providing in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient risk management program in accordance with the company's Operational Risk Management framework. This position requires resourcefulness, good judgment, persistence, the ability to influence others and strong leadership qualities.

What you can expect:
Provides 2nd line risk guidance and assistance to FAC in managing operational risks in accordance with the Company’s ORM framework. Viewed as trusted advisor regarding risk issues by key stakeholders. This includes ensuring that operational risks are properly identified, assessed, monitored, controlled and reported. For example:
• Promotes and builds strong risk management culture in collaboration with the 1st line Finance & Actuarial Community (FAC) ORM team through strong engagement and relationship building.
• Collaborate with the Head of Model and Operational Risk Management to implement ORM initiatives and reporting protocols.
• Serve as a tactical partner to embedded first-line teams, ensuring alignment with second-line ORM frameworks and controls.
• Providing Operational Risk support and advice to business partners, including facilitating assessments of strategic initiatives and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented.
• Manage day-to-day ORM activities within assigned FAC areas, including issue tracking, control testing, and risk assessments.
• Applies sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and controls. Effectively challenges adequacy of controls.
• Provide subject matter expertise on ORM processes and tools, supporting business units in meeting compliance and governance standards.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and awareness programs for ORM within FAC.

What you'll need:
• Bachelors degree required
• 7+ years of relevant business / risk or control function experience
• Superior relationship management skills with the ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environment
• Works independently and delivers high quality outputs
• Clear and effective writing skills
• Risk management, audit experience or similar business control experience
• Familiarity with and understanding financial risks, including credit, market, and insurance risk is a plus
• Uses strong influencing skills to achieve objectives
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Applies sound judgment in determining when to escalate risk issues
• Business and financial literacy

What We Offer You:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $152,500.00 to $206,200.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
