A day in the life.
As our Client Director on the Transportation team, you will:
- Work directly with senior level client staff to establish short- and long-term commercial lines strategy.
- Partner with vendors and carriers to design and deliver commercial lines products and services.
- Develop effective business relationships with assigned clients through in-person visits, entertainment opportunities, telephone, and electronic contact at multiple levels within client organization.
- Provide high-level financial, contract, and/or administrative analysis.
- Ensure client service needs are met through coordination and review of work product and mentorship of assigned client service team.
- Review loss summary with client to proactively manage losses; involve cross-functional team as needed.
- Manage client stewardship plan with corresponding activities and deliverables.
- Coordinate workflow within client service team to ensure timely response to all client inquiries.
- Communicate and educate the client on changes within our industry and how they impact their business.
- Manage client renewal and marketing process, including negotiation of rates with carriers and presenting alternative options when appropriate.
- Analyze renewal quotes and industry trends to make appropriate renewal recommendations.
- Assist producer with updating the POSI pre-renewal. Participate in discussions on renewal strategy and gather renewal information from the client.
- Prepare and participate in presenting proposal to the client and in team selling with other MMA disciplines.
- Coordinate team meetings to discuss the renewal marketing strategy with the team. Include cross-functional teams where appropriate.
- Create an environment oriented towards trust, open communication, and cohesive team effort.
- Facilitate problem solving and collaboration when faced with client difficulties.
- Focus the team on the internal and external client requirements, familiarizing them with client specifications, work procedures and processes, quality standards, techniques, and tools to support task performance.
- Provide necessary business information to enhance the team’s professional development.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared to satisfy client requirements.
- Work closely with Operations Managers to obtain necessary resources to support the team’s requirements and to escalate issues that cannot be resolved by the team.
- Establish and consistently maintain effective and positive working relationships with associates and clients.
- Assist in training as needed for newly hired team members and provide ongoing training, coaching and personal development to existing team members.
- Be available as a resource to team members. Field questions and respond to issues on a timely basis.
- Provide leadership in practice group and team interactions.
- Create learning opportunities for teammates and provide ongoing constructive feedback.
- Discuss market strategy with team and oversee submission process; review & negotiate quotations and make placement recommendations in collaboration with producer and marketer.
- Coordinate coverage placement, including binders, invoices, etc.
- Coordinate policy delivery process; complete and review coverage checklist with client.
- Pursue opportunities to round out existing client programs with additional and/or increased lines of coverage.
- Other duties as assigned to successfully complete role.
- Self-source and analyze new business
- Coordinate with Executive Team on self-sourced new business opportunities on strategy to win their business.
Our Future Colleague.
We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required; college degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience working in customer service, underwriting, commercial lines insurance for a carrier or broker preferred
- Experience establishing strategy and direction for commercial programs
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects while ensuring timely and accurate client deliverables, with effective problem-solving and resolution skills
- Strong understanding of insurance company markets, binding authority, and underwriting guidelines preferred
- Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and a high sense of urgency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to establish relationships at all levels
- Excellent client relationship building and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications required
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment and communicate effectively
- Flexibility and creativity in developing innovative and customized insurance solutions
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to negotiate quotations, evaluate client needs, and develop innovative business solutions
- Experience negotiating quotations with underwriters and evaluating client needs
- Knowledge of technical underwriting and extensive knowledge of commercial industry laws, products, coverages, and markets
- Self-starter with good time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
- Self-sourced new business prospects
- Advanced designations such as CIC, CRM and AAI preferred
- Property/Casualty license or ability to attain is required
