ISS STOXX is looking for a talented analyst to join our Stockholm-based Sustainability Research unit. Our global Weapons Research team focuses on analyzing a wide range of defense and military-related corporate activities for ISS STOXX’s Sustainability research and investment products. We have an open position in support of our Controversial Weapons Research.
Controversial Weapons Research is a well-established analysis methodology that helps financial institutions, including investors, insurance providers, and commercial banks, make decisions regarding companies directly or indirectly involved in weapons that are deemed particularly controversial because of their indiscriminate effects and the disproportionate harm, superfluous injury, or unnecessary suffering they cause. International humanitarian law and specific arms control instruments constitute the basis for this research.
If you're ready to learn, grow, and excel at a company dedicated to your success, ISS STOXX might be the perfect fit for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engaged Learning: Participate actively in our comprehensive and interactive training program designed to support your development as a successful Controversial Weapons Research Analyst.
- In-Depth Research: Conduct thorough research on companies and their business activities, both independently and in collaboration with our experienced global Weapons Research team.
- Analytical Writing: Produce detailed analyses of companies' business activities based on an established research methodology, resulting in reports that vary in length and detail.
- Team Collaboration: Contribute to local and global team processes aimed at enhancing our Sustainability product offerings. This may include supporting research methodology development, quality assurance, and IT platform development.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, preferably in political science, international relations, or strategic/military/peace and conflict studies.
- Relevant Experience: 2-4 years of relevant corporate research experience or specific education. Experience related to researching issues in the defence industry and arms control is preferred. Experience in business research/compliance/due diligence, or M&A analysis is helpful.
- Research Skills: Proven experience in conducting analyses using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), preferably with a focus on corporate activities and/or defence/security/military-related topics
- Writing Proficiency: Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to produce concise and conclusive analyses.
- Personal Interest: A broad interest in human rights and arms control, as well as in corporate responsibility and due diligence.
- Methodical Approach: A well-structured and thorough way of working, with keen attention to detail.
- Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, with a proactive attitude and the desire to show initiative.
If you're ready to take on new challenges and make a significant impact, we invite you to apply for the open position in support of our Controversial Weapons Research and join our Sustainability Research team in Stockholm.
