Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics for Cintra (Spain based) you will:

Strategy:

  • Be fully aligned with business leaders to understand their challenges and opportunities in terms of data.
  • Identify the business value that a new initiative or feature can potentially bring to the business area.
  • Shape and safeguard the best practices and guidelines defined for Ferrovial's data architecture.  

Data Products Delivery / Evolution:

  • You will propose flexible, scalable, and cost-effective data solutions.
  • You could develop optimal and scalable data processing pipelines within an Azure environment, Data Factory and Databricks on your own.
  • You will serve as the technical point of reference for toll roads data projects, collaborating on the product roadmap from a technical perspective, coordinating technical decissions with other product teams, and guaranteeing the feasibility, sustainability, and quality of these decisions.
  • You will manage a technical team (external parties) to deliver data initiatives following the best practices of Data Engineering and the different platforms and tools.
  • You will use your technical criteria to choose between different technical proposals.
  • You will collaborate with other areas of the company (Cloud, Developer Experience, Security, Architecture, etc.) to build optimal products and solutions.
  • You will foster a culture of continuous improvement, where quality, monitoring, and automation are embedded throughout the entire process.
  • You will grant an excellent user experience when consuming data (usability & performance criteria).
  • You will apply and / or guarantee that security and governance policies are applied, aligned with Ferrovial standards and regulation.

Quality Supervision & Development Teams Support:

  • Validate third-party technical proposals approving or rejecting them as needed.
  • Ensure that agreed standards and working practices are followed.
  • Ensure that development teams reuse visual repositories, certified components, and existing reference architectures to accelerate data platform delivery.
  • Provide expert guidance to delivery teams for complex challenges or business-critical systems, acting as an internal consultant.

Operations & Maintenance:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to dev teams in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue.
  • Forecast and control the cost evolution associated to the use of the existing data pipelines.
  • Work on a continuous improvement framework to optimize both, the technical solution performance and the cost associated to it.

Collaboration with the Global Data Strategy

  • You will promote a data-driven company.
  • You will measure and leverage the value of data in the organization.
  • You will take into consideration Ferrovial internal data standards, components and best practices.
  • You will promote the standardization of business data domains in your business area.
  • You will contribute to the creation of an enterprise data catalog and data glossary for your data products.

Innovation:

  • Keep up to date with new trends, new data services and components.
  • Lead proofs of concept with external partners to test new data services.

Requirements

  • Experience in data architecture within Azure environments.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing data development teams and being a “hands-on” profile is a MUST.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing and developing data architectures and pipelines (data modelling – logical and physical structure-, medallion architecture, governance - data security/privacy -)
  • Demonstrated experience working with Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables
  • Demonstrated experience leading data initiatives that process information on real time or near real time.
  • Passion for teamwork, especially under agile methodologies.
  • Passion for the practical application of technology, particularly within the ecosystem of distributed architectures, data, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Mindset focused on automation and continuous integration.
  • A continuous learning mentality and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and experiences with the rest of the team.
  • Orientation towards continuous improvement and a practical approach to software engineering.
  • Ability to manage technical teams.
  • Appreciation for dynamic, fast-paced, and agile environments.
  • Experience in distributed and cloud-native architectures and DevSecOps environments.
  • Experience with the following languages: Python
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Spanish
  • Knowledge in quality engineering and test automation in CD/CI environments will be positively valued.
  • Knowledge or experience in ML environments with MLOps will be valued.
  • Experience in implementing observability mechanisms, including monitoring business KPIs, will be positively valued.
