The Opportunity
An exciting Opportunity exist to join Cochlear’s Mediterranean region as the Clinical Technical Research Manager. Working within a diverse and strategically important cluster, the Clinical Technical Research Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the Clinical Technical team across the Mediterranean region, with a functional reporting line of field-based clinical technical professionals in both direct and distributor markets. As managing distributor relationships in Spain will be a responsibility in this position, the successful candidate must be located in either Barcelona or Madrid.
Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, you will be driving clinical and technical excellence across the region partnering with internal stakeholders and external partners (including surgeons, audiologists, and distributor clinical teams) to be the main escalation point for clinical technical matters, and aligning our policies, procedures and frameworks across direct and indirect markets.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Scientific Strategy & Events: Leading the planning and execution of scientific and clinical events, including podium strategies aligned with Mediterranean business goals.
- Clinical Excellence: Oversee field support activities, act as the escalation point for complex clinical and technical matters, and ensure alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Training & Education: Identifying, planning, delivering, and tracking training and educational programs for internal staff and external stakeholders to ensure high standards of clinical competence and product knowledge.
- Research & Collaboration: Assessing research needs and leading the implementation of a research project portfolio in collaboration with partner clinics, KOLs, and the EMEA Clinical Studies team, fostering long-term loyalty and driving sustainable growth.
- Customer Experience: Supporting the implementation of Cochlear’s Customer Experience strategy across clinical/technical touchpoints, ensuring high-quality service delivery and alignment with Cochlear’s brand promise.
About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Background in Audiology or biomedical engineering
- Proficiency in Spanish, English & Portuguese (Preferred)
- Proven leadership experience in clinical research roles within the medical device or healthcare industry
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Expertise in clinical training, education, and research collaboration.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including with distributors, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations and quality standards.
- Ability to travel across the Mediterranean region as needed.
