Pay Range

$19.45 - $29.20

  • Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a North Carolina State-approved Nurse Aide I course.
  • Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assistance: Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures, including patient interviews, data documentation, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Nursing Process: Participate in implementing the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under the guidance of an RN or LPN.
  • Room Setup: Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, restocking, and proper equipment setup.
  • Communication: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information within the healthcare team.
  • Specimen Handling: Collect and process specimens for diagnostic testing following policy guidelines.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all patient care provided in the medical record according to medical center policy.
  • Point of Care Testing: Maintain competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, colleagues, patients, and family members in a professional and positive manner.
  • Professional Development: Take personal responsibility and initiative for professional growth and development.
  • Age-Specific Care: Provide age/developmentally appropriate patient care following guidelines for the clinical population served.
  • Infection Prevention: Comply with Medical Center Infection Prevention policies to manage infectious materials using proper techniques, sanitization, chemical disinfection, surgical asepsis, and safe handling of biohazardous materials.
  • Mission and Values: Adhere to the Medical Center's mission, vision, values, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Service Line standards in patient care.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands.

Work Environment:

Typical clinical setting. Interaction with patients, family members, visitors, co-workers, and medical staff in various circumstances. Regular exposure to blood-borne diseases, infectious, and contagious diseases. Subject to multiple interruptions. Occasional exposure to radiation hazards. Possible exposure to cleaning agents/chemicals. Occasional irregular hours. Use of personal protective equipment.
