Job Description

Summary

The Shipping Coordinator II performs duties related to the packaging, labeling, and shipping of finished goods. Communicates and coordinates with transportation companies. Handles routine questions and problems and maintains open communication with other departments throughout the shipping/delivery cycle. Confirms the accuracy of invoices, bills and charges relative to the shipment of goods. Logs order information into the computer and files and distributes paperwork as necessary. Maintains records and generates reports for accounting and other areas. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Executes shipping processes including packaging, labeling and shipment of product
  • Identifies shipping requirements and best routes and methods for delivery to meet customer requirements
  • Coordinate shipments for commercial, DoD and international conveyance including all necessary documentation, schedule freight shipments with freight forwarders and carriers, verify shipments’ compliance integrity
  • Identifies, tracks and maintains all necessary materials and documentation to support internal and external audits
  • Responsible for implementing best practices including safety requirements and maintaining desk procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to handle shipping domestically and navigate requirements & restrictions
  • Works with Shipping Supervisor and Senior Shipping Clerk on all aspects of the operation
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice
  • Follows established procedures on routine work, requiring instructions only on new assignments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • HAZMAT ground and air shipping certification preferred
  • 1 – 2 years of related experience
  • Experience supporting FAA and DOT audits
  • Experience utilizing UPS, DHL or FedEx online shipping system
  • Prior forklift experience and/or certification is preferred

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Demonstrates understanding of International shipping and customs.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates competency with use of shipment processing and vendor related programs.
  • Can effectively prioritize workload to meet scheduling demands
  • Has intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel and is able to learn new software and technologies
  • Demonstrates ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
  • Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others and the company

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment (Constant)
  • Ability to regularly stand for long periods of time (Frequent)
  • Walk, handle, or feel with the ability to reach with hands and arms (Constant)
  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (Occasional)
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and carry/move objects of varying shapes and sizes (Frequent)

The salary range for this role is:

$18 - $25
