Your Opportunity

Support the highest standards of corporate governance and play a vital role in enabling Anglicare’s Board and leadership to deliver on our mission. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Company Secretary to join our Office of the CEO. This is your chance to make a real impact in the community by ensuring sound governance and compliance across the organisation.

With integrity and resilience, you will:

  • Ensure the timely preparation and distribution of agendas, Board papers and other documents for Anglicare’s Board and Board Sub-Committees.
  • Attend and provide high-level support at all required meetings, including taking and preparing minutes, tracking action items, and managing all logistical requirements.
  • Assist in the induction of new Board Members, ensuring all appropriate checks are completed.
  • Monitor and advise on changes affecting corporate governance, regulatory and not-for-profit compliance.
  • Maintain statutory registers, governance documentation, corporate records, and Board policies.
  • Ensure all regulatory returns are submitted, including Diocesan, ASIC, ACNC and other requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence in communication with Board members, the Executive Leadership Team, and other key stakeholders.
  • Draft high-level documents, including Board papers, policies, procedures, minutes, and agendas.

What You'Ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with at least 3 years’ experience in a company secretariat, governance, or legal role, ideally in the not-for-profit, community housing, or aged care sectors.
  • Legal qualifications and/or experience.
  • Corporate governance qualifications from the Governance Institute or similar.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate governance principles and legal/regulatory frameworks in Australia, including the Corporations Act and ACNC Act.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including report and minute writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build strong professional relationships.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Office365, Diligent, and web-based applications).
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
